Metal plates are also good variant. I thought about them but they seem to me way heavier then L profile. Yes. You are right. Look up moment of inertia for beam bending. A lot of good advice for you here though. Generally, sealing surfaces you want to be clean, flat, and have a lot of clamping force...

SOLD - 6" belt and stone Ski Tuner $250

This is setup old school. Running into a 220V socket currently. Belt is 6in. I think the stone is just shy of that. She runs, and selling for a friend. Needs to go quickly since the space its in is getting bought since the shop is closing down. This is in Milford NH. I'd keep her but I'm a snowboard...

Got it, you're talking about impact resistance, and you have my attention! And your suggesting using products like these?: http://www.uspoly.com/laneappf.html Any idea what these actually are? Uralane = urethane based? Would we still need a UV protective layer on top? I'm not (yet) convinced that th...

Too busy to post up my coupon results lately. Here's a sexy board though, same artwork just done on veneer and clear coated. Cherry sidewalls go so well with it, didn't mean for that to happen. http://i1060.photobucket.com/albums/t445/FnKFabrications/DSCN7841_zpseb17b292.jpg http://i1060.photobucket...

Also wouldnt use a sander pretty much at any step. The 3M line has some nice gentle scotchbrite style pads that do wonders. K that's all i got.

I'm interested in why you guys don't remove epoxy. Epoxy is brittle and will yellow over time. Belt sanders over 'random' orbital sanders? Has anyone tested the urethane used to protect bowling lanes - might be a good starting point? Epoxy creates a nice base layer to paint to, almost a nice gel co...

Skibuilder moving out west

Hi all- Jesse, my partner in crime is moving out west this summer. While this might slow me down a bit doing this building thing, it's a pretty awesome thing for him. His fiance is going to med school in portland so in 10 years, she'll be able to support him and he can build all day right?? He's goi...

Thanks guys! Chris, sorta a mix of stuff I posted up there... Raw veneer boards i posted as just clear coated with spar urethane. I actually worked out a technique for brushing it on and it looks pretty damn good. Finished board with artwork is via vince at miller studios, and my artist bled in some...

Been a busy winter. Hard to find time to build, let alone ride, or post up on here. Ran out of epoxy so i have some downtime to post up while it makes its way from west coast to east coast. Decided to stick with the current size and shape and do some learning and playing around. Built two more board...

Cool! I love when people go through and add info for posterity! probably a good time for me to say that my press matches my calcs and solidworks sim model. About 1mm deflection in the middle at 40 pisg in the bladder. I'll also add that I think this is reasonable and wouldnt be surprised if a lot of...
