Re: Honeycomb core/Prepreg Film

I think the idea with the craft paper is that it wets out but prevents tons of dripping/filling of the honeycomb. I would think that might be worth a try. I had a similar thought of using something like a medipore tape, or maybe doing a super thin wet glass veil as the layers outside the honeycomb s...

Re: Honeycomb core/Prepreg Film

No experience here but happy to kick the idea around. Do you have examples of what you're thinking for the film adhesives? Something like this from Henkel maybe? Cure temps seem high on most of these. https://www.pccomposites.com/product/ea7000-0325m/ https://www.pccomposites.com/wp-content/uploads/...

Re: Acrylic painted artwork Q

Dude! Those links are great. Two very useful suppliers. That water based stuff from montana is a waterbased urethane spray paint-- which is something i was looking for on another project. Definitely worth exploring. You might have a look at Montana Colors spray paints... I've used them for other pro...

Acrylic painted artwork Q

Two part question-- (this might be a bad pun) Looking to do some custom artwork top and bottom of board using some rattle can acrylic type paint. The bottom I've had good luck with before-- just painting the inside of a clear base with acrylic. Someone else on here had shown this to work-- painted i...

Re: Snowboard wood core design help - Epoxy center line

Old-- but looks like the trail went sorta cold from the responses. I got into saw milling and drying lumber this past year-- you will see some stuff from me this winter with wood from our property onto boards. Your ideas are fine-- but my suggestion is to use those ideas on your topsheet and not you...

Jsquare=> fnkfab, life, boards, whats up 2020?!

hey gang- its been a minute-- well actually prob about 4 years, which by no coincidence is about age of our oldest child. Our little project went into a bit of a deep freeze a few years back, but we've made a few bits of progress here and there-- as in 2 snowboards slowly churning over 3 years. Hope...

Ditto. I do a pocket the cut most the meat off and then finish with parallel. You can do some clever stuff, by adjusting height values. I've done some more complex parts too like a guitar neck and a hatchet handle.

Found a couple ST600s

hey guys, i've been chasing some of the sports authority grinders around. For the most part, wintersteiger bought them all back, but i did find two available in the NYC area. Not sure if anyone is down that way, but i talked to a guy that was responsible for liquidating the stores, and he said they ...

Does this technique not make everyone that reads this cringe? Like... name one material in a cured ski that you want to deform permanently? Sounds like they're breaking the damn thing. I must be missing something... I have it from a source that the infinite ride thing was developed as a lifetime tes...

One thing I am not sure about is how far apart they should be. E.g. what is the standard length of the highest area of the core on ski's or snowboard.

^Ditto.

Might want to pull them out of the press and set on their side to let them cool to shape without your mold or gravity acting on them.

Re: Sidewall bevel tricks and tips.

Curious to see how you all are making your sidewall bevels. As for me right now I have a belt sander that can be angled and been setting it to 20 degrees and slowly working away the sidewalls until they look good to the eye. The trick with my system is just like any normal sanding start with a heav...
