IMO, you should always use reinforcements for inserts. I.E. Push the insert through a sheet of Kevlar or CF, or even glass, if you're not worried about weight. Has to be luck - I like to consider myself pretty good at the metal work I do, but I am totally self-taught, so... certainly no expert. looks like they've ditched the i-beam presses and switched to smaller ones. Cool. Very lightweight press frames. Looks like they are partially relying on the aluminum bottom mold and thick wood top mold to avoid deflection. I would love to see those presses up close. Elan has always been a top notc...
