I have a DeWalt thickness planer. Not sure of the model #, but it's the home job. It's plenty accurate and leaves a surface as smooth as any I've ever used. MDF? :D Have you looked up the weight on that stuff? I'm about to start collecting materials to do my first build. I thought I'd build something for my kid because she'll need new skis next season and I figure if my first try doesn't turn out, I'll only have blown half the materials of a full sized ski or board. I've been thinking about this because the idea of getting decent results without having to build a press is very apealing. For the spacers on the sides, it would be easy enough to build your core wide, profile it, and then take a rip to use as a spacer. You'd have to pad it out with a piece that is ...
