Well done reliefs of the Alpental valley in nice wood with topo lines would sell like wildfire.

Or, at least elicit a great donation at the Bark ball.

I use 1.2mm for the bottom sheet and .8mm for the top.

I think I would prefer a tad thicker on the bottom sheet.

^^^^eh, it depends on what pressure you are going for.

Doesn't sound like nearly enough IMO.

Why shouldn't I use plastic adjusters? I planned to use ABS for the adjusters... I mean ABS is quite robust, right?
I suspect you're unaware of the forces we're dealing with here.

Plastic is not the correct material.

You need to use an air bladder for pressure, which I think you're already planning on?

Your "adjusters" need to not be plastic, and should run full width. To avoid deflection you are going to have to have a very thick bottom plate.

IMO, you should always use reinforcements for inserts. I.E. Push the insert through a sheet of Kevlar or CF, or even glass, if you're not worried about weight. Also, they should be pushed in during layup, not before. Only takes a little bit of extra time, and a little bit of extra money, and it elim...

Has to be luck - I like to consider myself pretty good at the metal work I do, but I am totally self-taught, so... certainly no expert. I jigged everything up pretty solid before welding, then I tack welded things at the edges to keep it as it was jigged. That's usually how I do stuff - then do sol...

Amazing.

Most impressive is that you still managed to keep everything square with that much welding. Did you pay attention to your weld pattern, or did you just get lucky?

I would, but my school doesn't have a shop :( That is horrible. As for your original question, I hate to say it, but the liability is to high. If you were to get injured (which is a real possibility) the person helping you use their tools would be liable. I suggest you use this as a motivating forc...

after doing a research and speaking with people decided to go with variable frequency drive instead of phase converter http://www.ebay.com/itm/VARIABLE-FREQUENCY-DRIVE-INVERTER-VFD-NEW-4HP-3KW-13A-q-/220692585941?pt=BI_Electrical_Equipment_Tools&hash=item33624d9dd5 it's cheaper smaller and prob...

looks like they've ditched the i-beam presses and switched to smaller ones. Cool. Very lightweight press frames. Looks like they are partially relying on the aluminum bottom mold and thick wood top mold to avoid deflection. I would love to see those presses up close. Elan has always been a top notc...

hey chris, how do you deal with heating to 70c and ball milling or shaking the pre polymer to get it all melted and even? You just mix it with a drill? That would put allot of air in it i bet. what a pita I don't understand what you guys are worried about. Every board I have ever built the epoxy wa...
