new idea to heat your press

since my recent project fell through ive only really had ideas i cant test. My idea is using water to heat your press which can only really work with a vacuum press since its water proof. my idea is building a large enough tub(mdf with plastic sheeting to waterproof) to hold your mold and vacuum bag...

ive never made a board before either, but in my research it seems to be that everyone uses a hard roller to work the air out. an idea i had was that you could roll the topsheet out on the board/ski rather than placing it flat(roll it out like a sleeping bag) and use the roller to push air out as you...

that iboard is awesome! i did some more research and found that those led's are the same as the ones in an xbox controller for the player lights so theyre relatively bright but you might need ALOT. even just around the edges for a 156cm snowboard, to completely go all the way around the edge without...

thanks for the help! i probably will go with flooring if i can find it unfinished just because shipping a 4x8 piece of plywood 3000 miles would probably get a little more pricey than i would like. btw, i dont use a planer, but i assume the glue in the bamboo and how much its compressed is probably w...

OUCH! thanks for the tips. i feel pretty comfortable using bamboo now. for your cores, do you rip the bamboo into strips and mix it with other woods? im interested in a poplar bamboo mix to keep weight down but keep it snappy

still not super expensive which is what makes me want to use it. also there is no real treatment that needs to be done. does anyone have any idea whether or not the glue used to bond the individual strips of bamboo together keeps epoxy from bonding to it well?

Lets talk Bamboo

as most of us know, bamboo is a very strong, cheap, renewable resource that is great for skis/snowboards. Ive seen a lot of posts saying people have used bamboo but never going into detail about it. i was wondering if using bamboo lumber from calibamboo can make flexible sidewalls that will bond wit...
