I've used maple on about 10 pairs of skis over the past 4 years, and have had zero issues with it. I've made a pair with poplar and rubbed teak oil (similar to linseed in that it take a while to dry, about 1-2 days). I've also used granadillo on two pair and it looks great and has really good rot re...

Cedar Cores
I got ambitious on Christmas day and decided to make a pair of ultralight back country skis for a friend. I didn't have any bamboo immediately available for the core, and I wanted something lighter than the poplar cores I had on hand, so I went to Home Depot and picked up some knot-free cedar boards...

SIA - Denver 2013 Observations
So I was fortunate enough to go to the show today for a couple of hours. I thought I'd share some of my observations, but they are by no means comprehensive. I did run into COsufer and Grace Skis while I was there and had great conversations with both of them. * I observed a solid presence of small ...

I've ordered directly from Haberkorn before. I ordered 2 rolls at a time and 4 rolls. no issues, just a pain in the but to do the foreign money-order transaction. I recall paying as much for shipping and money-order fees as the 2 roll order. Whoever is going to lead this transaction can feel free to...
