I use these ramp/soak programmable PIDs from Auber Instruments

They have been effective for me.
My control box has 2 SSRs mounted on a large heat sink.

My old pair of public enemies have amber coloured polyurethane sidewall under foot and then a butt joint to abs in the tip and tail. That was prob to help prevent edge blowouts on rails as the polyurethane would flex a bit. I liked the skis, but can't say I really noticed the dual sidewall design do...

I think often a harder silicon mat on the non printing side and a metal sheet on the printing side. A silicone heat blanket heats the aluminium sheet and then it gets pressed down onto the plastic with graphic sheet on top of it. I filled a hole with chopped up fibreglass and epoxy once then redrilled the right spot (that was through the epoxy filler) and put a binding freedom ski insert in. It has been OK. But I think the pucks on a split are prob more important than one binding screw on a ski

Nice job Don't bother covering the base with protective film (especially packing tape) it needs a grind afterwards anyway. For the topsheet you can get vinyl sticker application tape that comes in a wide roll for one piece to cover the whole topsheet. You can find it on ebay or a local signwriter wi...

I think you mean knots instead of twigs. It is better to avoid knots in your cores by using only clean timber (timber without knots) when building cores. I have seen boards/skis built with wood with some knots and they turned out ok, but try and avoid it in the future.

I usually put boot centre, thickest point and sidecut centre 6.5cm behind true centre of the ski (true centre being half the length of the ski AFTER it has been moulded). This puts the ball of my foot (mondo 27.5 boot, 318mm BSL) on the true centre point. Often I have a flat thickest area under foot...

It might help to seal the MDF top and sides with paint or varnish to direct as much vacuum through the holes as possible. MDF is porous. Also I think I would go to the extra trouble of drilling out the holes in the middle. After all that's where your material actually is and it's the holes under the...

I have a Bosch. From their professional series. 1/4 inch collet. Has been a great tool. I use it for base cut out as well.
I think they call it a Bosch colt in the US.

Definitely do your sidewall bevel in multiple passes. With bamboo I used to go straight for 22 degrees and tear out strips of bamboo and have to fill with epoxy. Now I have the tilt base router I do 7.5, then 15 then 22.5 if I am going that far. So far (touch wood) I haven't had any problems with te...

yeah that's the one Man I wasted some time last night trying to remember and find that site! http://loadedsnow.com/media/wysiwyg/loadedsnow/the-board-image-2.jpg I did find some of the aggregate CNC heads. I think I saw one on a skateboard maker website (planer head) - will see if I can find it again.
You guys look like you're getting pretty handy with DIY solutions. Could prob get a spiral cutter head and get a bracket machined up to hold a motor for belt drive.
