MM, chrismp, and Mad are all correct. I'm at 14.25 and I would not go any smaller... not even .25". The more space you have to move the cassette in and heat blankets the better. the first time you shove it in there can be quite hard and the more space you have the better. I say make 30-50 skis ...

That one is similar to the grass roots one. It looks like it was cut out with a router. cnc or template I'm not sure but certainly a router. reminds me of the wood dinosaurs I had as a kid.

I agree with Vin on this one. I would say that it adds at least ~20% more stiffness. I've made two pairs of veneer skis now and they are both stiffer than I wanted. i'm getting closer to nailing them but like everything with ski building, its a journey...
