havent actually made the 3/4 wrap ski but i expect it to be a very careful process. you will still have the base cut ahead of time.

but i am thinking of a jig saw with sharp blade

this has been talked about in another thread. but i use a 6-10 tooth 80in blade on a band saw. the key is you need to slow down the blade, if you have a variable speed band saw this is really easy but if not...hit up grainger or mcmaster and order smaller pully for the drive on the motor and an equa...

so i cant sleep i am thinking about the kevlar stuff so much. do any of you think that lacing the kevlar tread through the edge will cause any sort of delam issue with the above fiberglass layer because of the irregularities. also how strong do you think that the kevlar thread needs to be? Size 23-2...

what size kevlar thread are you using in that picture. i just ordered some with the 23 lbs tensile strength i think that will be enough to make our edges bomb proof. i also ordered a small quantity of 80 lbs strength kevlar thread just in case. i really think that this will be the way to go as alway...

i think i am going to try the 3/4 wrap. i like the way that your edge is flush with the base. just wondering how u get the square cut in the base, is that what u use the exacto knife to cut. i dont use tip spacer, but i am very interested about using the kevlar sounds like a great idea, can u elabor...

we the goal is to make the best ski possible, i agree that they are just going to get trashed, but if full wrap lasts longer the extra effort is worth it. what do you do with the end of the edge if you do 3/4 wrap. just end it or do you tuck it in somewhere. i was thinking about safety wiring them t...
