Yep that's right I called Camax 3 days ago and hey are OK for some 11,4mm / M5 inserts, it's gonna be perfect, the only thing is I'm not sure I'll have it in time: I'm in Montreal but leave to the Rockies in 2 weeks, my skis need to be finished by this time... tight schedule. David from Camax is rea...

As I only need 20-30 inserts Camax is not OK for me. Anyway I found someone who sold me some 7.5mm inserts. My concern is that my core is 11mm thick so inserts are too short. What do you guys recommend to install them and is it a good idea to use inserts if they are too short ? My plan was to counte...

Hi Doug,

I don't know if it's from my side but I can't access your gallery.
You should try Picasa photo galleries (Google), lots of space and really easy to share.

Can't wait to see your pics.

inserts

Hi guys,

Was wondering if any of you has some spare inserts (M5, 10-12mm long) to sell me.
I found some on SBM but the longer are only 7.5mm.
Not sure for the M5, I have to check on my bindings (Marker Duke)...

Thanks

Big Time !

Finally did it ! I removed my skis from the mold yesterday evening after a 24h cure. Result is awesome ! There are a few little details which are not so good be the general result is really satisfying! So everityhing went great, laying up was fine and I can say my centering system works. Not too muc...

I made a "pin-positionning" system : I glued 2 pieces of wood with a hole on it, between my cores . There are 2 pins on the mold, when I'm layering my skis, the bases sit on the mold with double-sided tape so they can't move and I just have to align the 2 wood pieces between the cores core...

After a busy 2 weeks of moving and trying to make a nice workshop in my basement, I'm finally back on ski building ! Here is my new status : Core are the correct thickness and I'm pre-bending tips and tails. It seemed to be a pretty easy thing in my mind but appears to be tricky. First I tried to pu...

Cadman -> Don't you think more of those concerns could be removed just by vacuum-pressing your skis instead of using a press ? Sure there are some pros and cons about vacuum vs press but except maybe for the processing time I don't see many major differences. Pressure is different, OK, but the press...

small update

I'm almost done with core profiling, it took more time than expected.. I'm using the planer method to profile cores, theorically it's super easy but I had a lot of troubles trying to have a straight cut (for the planner to remove the same thickness on both sides of the ski). I checked the geometry o...

yep that's what I did on the tail, my edges stop before the tight bend (i did it because I wanted a recess for the skins tensionnner to go through)
On the front tip I actually prefer having a full edge wrap, I'll try to find the tube bender, thanks.

Thanks Plywood ! I'm really not a born woodworker so it takes me some time to figure out the good way to do things ;) If everything goes right I should be done with the core profiling tonight.. next steps : edge bending... I need to think about an edge bender without the big metallic cylinder thing,...

Where did you find puckboard ? Do the sell it at Home Depot or something like that ? I'm searchig for something smooth and cheap to cover my vacuum mold... Formica is quite expensive (70$ for a 8'x4') and I can't find some cheap one.
thanks
