I've noticed a trend in failures at points where there are material seams that go straight across my snowboards: ie: where core and tip fill, sidewall/tip fill meet.

If you guys are using square tip fill pieces, I figured I'd just share that little bit ;).

are most of the bubbles on the surfaces?

A guy here at work will brush the PU onto the mold surfaces prior to pouring, says it helps reduce the amount of bubbles that form as the liquid trys to completely fill and air escapes and gets trapped etc.

15 minutes IS 15-20minutes!! ;)

I'm sure many factors could make it kick off early, either way, that sucks!

my new spoilboard/vacuum table is now 2 layers of mdf: bottom 3/4" layer with a hole for vac hose and channels, and a top layer of 1.25"mdf with channels on the underside and 1" deep holes on the top. I sealed these together with wood glue, and the top layer is so heavy i placed a few...

"hot coat" that top with more epoxy. Then sand it, then put something else over that for a gloss or matte coat or whatever you want. I just dont know what you're supposed to put as the top, Polyurethane possibly.

i do the tips on the grinder, after i get the glue and the tip shaped right on the grinder, i do a few passes to bevel/smooth the topsheet and when it's done you can see the tip fill sticking out some, which is then a pinch of a barrier. for the rails, sometimes we run one very, very light pass on t...

So these are the first of boards where almost all of the work was done by us. Except for graphics, and a core blank. I milled the core profile and shape, milled the sidewalls, tip fill, etc on our machine. All the parts fit exact. More precise than what I was getting from other folks. Feels good :)

my hose is 16" dia, "ANGUS SUPER AQUADUCT" Its made for running temporary water mains over ground. Thing is bomber, we've pressed it into nuts, bolts, sharp steel corners, it's got its share of nicks etc but it's taken a lot of abuse, and apparently can handle well over 100psi. Previo...

i have a 16" diameter bladder. its bomber, but i dont think because its wider it's actually doing any more than what 2 8" hoses does. psi=psi, i guess you could say my contact patch is greater, thus increasing total force on the part. Anyway, pressed my last deck at 50-55 psi, came out bea...

wet out both sides? ie the glass and the topsheet are you using a medium viscosity epoxy? I have bubble issues similar when i do clear, but they're so small it hasnt been an issue as of yet. And I'm using a press. It seems to be for me that it happens in areas where part thicknesses change, its happ...
