Re: Jonrezz’s Build Log

Decided to go with a second version of the first idea above where the rack collapses on itself, this way no extra prongs stick into the silicone sheet. here's the assembly: https://i.imgur.com/FKBA4at.mp4 some progress I made today: https://i.imgur.com/amspxId.jpg and here's a timelapse of the CNC g...

Re: Jonrezz’s Build Log

Was also contemplating this idea instead since it’s more simple, more smooth so less wear on the silicone sheet, and would not require thicker aluminum over the top to smooth out the ribs in the last design - which I’m not really sure what thickness that’d be to get a smooth but flexible enough cove...

Re: Jonrezz’s Build Log

Thanks for the Responses! interesting suggestion - is the needle valve supposed to reduce the airflow in the pump thus less smoke? When I did this run, the pressure was at -28 inwc. I did a bit more research myself and am wondering if I should put an "oil mist eliminator" on the exhaust po...

Re: Jonrezz’s Build Log

Thanks for the insight and encouragement! After having power restored on Saturday due to a storm taking down the power line at our house a couple days ago, we decided to press one simple ski layup on Sunday to get some notes /data regarding what works well, what needs improvement, etc. in our proces...

Re: Jonrezz’s Build Log

Thanks for the tips guys! I'll give your method for the edges a shot. when I did it that way I crouched under the base and pointed my phones flashlight at it to check for gaps haha. I did read on another thread a while ago about unpredictable camber with one sided heat. My thought here was try a ram...

Re: Jonrezz’s Build Log

Nice! looks like you definitely need to make a press now! One day I want to when finances allow. They are intended to be replacements for my 10 year old pair of 165 cm fischer RC4 sl's that are beat to death and delaminating- the ones I'm making share dimensions with them. Originally I was planning ...

Re: Flax titanal combo

Very impressive! out of curiosity - you mentioned ash core underfoot and poplar in the front and back of the core? are they not made with the traditional laminated lengthwise strips?

also props on the veneer choice, looks really sharp.

Re: Jonrezz’s Build Log

Another update! Finished up the vac table and took it for a test run: Pics of course: https://imgur.com/gallery/a75Dzvn Now it has a small leak somewhere, I suspect in the quick connect fitting under the table. seems to be pulling -27 inhg and keeping up with the leak. I will try to find and seal th...

Re: Jonrezz’s Build Log

Hey Pheeps Not as much progress as I was hoping to make this summer, but the vacuum table has come along nicely. The silicone sheet is from https://deerhunter.en.alibaba.com/product/60638697574-804364630/Clear_Silicone_Rubber_Sheets_For_Wood_Door_Vacuum_Pressing_Machine.html?spm=a2700.icbuShop.84.24...

Re: Jonrezz’s Build Log

Thanks for the feedback! Chris/Delam - I ordered some nippers to make a simple edge bending tool. I also ordered one of those drill press vices that others have used to make the wheeled version of edge benders - but not sure when i'm going to get around to that. seems like a whole project in itself....

Re: Silicone sheets in north america

I just placed an order for the DH2211 last week. they were friendly and responsive. $150 for 900mm x 2600mm x 1 mm shipped to NY, USA. I browsed the US sites but wasn't crazy about their selection - elongation in particular wasn't as good. They mentioned that it will take longer than usual to ship d...
