http://picasaweb.google.com/111175618054371984763/CapturesDEcran?authkey=Gv1sRgCIjTjOfHm5C_gwE# I just finished my layup today. I will get the results tommorrow. Finally, I could not use the autoclave because their vacuum pump was broken, I instead used a Venturi system with their normal compressor...

Max skis'

Just finished profiling the cores and reinforcing my mold. At first, I had done a BS one, since I intended to use simple vacuum, but my mother has worked at the National School of Aeronautics, and got some contacts there (director). So I just got access to an autoclave and the director of their comp...

Perhaps the answer is metal above and below to give tension and compression to help the ski return. I am not sure if it would change anything if it is a deformation caused by overbending, except to push the bending limit farther, since the second sheet of metal would have the same caracteristics as...

Ski instructing is nice. Particularily when half of Quebec's skis station have an agreement to let ski their ski instructors for free! And, with that money, I can build a couple pairs of skis, or at least try to do it, the fun being working on it 8) And that joke is a classic, my father was telling ...

A Lot! Skiing your own = Priceless! Lol, For now, I might be around 400$ for 2 pairs of skis, including everything, by borrowing tools from my neighbors and/or at my school, using a vacuum press. (Might not be credible, since I have not finished my first pair yet ;p, just wait another 2 weeks, damn...

Just checked the template, and it is perfectly symetrical.Furthermore, I cut the cores on the same template, adding materials to match for the edge width, and they are perfectly symmetrical. The bases still have a nasty curve in them, so I will just cut another pair of bases, using its matching core...

Both bases fit perfectly one on the other, but when I turn one around, there is a difference of about 1 cm, while the cores fit almost perfectly on each other, independently of the sense I put them (as they are symmetrical). I just finished tearing up the edge with an exacto. I also confirmed that m...

It stayed for one week in my basement, at the place in the house where there is the least temperature fluctuation. I don't think it is the reason of the deformation.
Do you think I should just tear up the edges to the half of the ski and reinstall them? or just start all over again?

Max skis (need help :P)

After 1 year lurking in this forum, I have finally started truly working! I am relatively advanced in my construction, as all my materials were ready, and was about to profile my cores tomorrow. The only problem being that my bases seemed to have rounded. Now, when I place my shaped cores on the bas...

Badner I went to see a ski maker here in Quebec during the summer (Utopie Snowboard) and he suggested to stop the edges at a minimum of 2 cm after the beginning of the tip, so that it doesn't tear from the simple contact of snow. Also, you'll need to do a little cut in the base so that your edges fi...

A good vacuum compressor?

Hello, Do you think that a compressor of this kind would be good for a vacuum press? Do you know something about this company? (Gast) http://cgi.ebay.com/VACUUM-COMPRESSOR-GAST-MFG-MODEL-ROA-V110-JH-/300450665639?cmd=ViewItem&pt=BI_Pumps&hash=item45f44154a7 I also thaught: Would it be possib...
