I think PM Gear uses a piece of metal. I assume aluminum. Their site seems to be down right now, so I can't check there. I would think you could cut out a piece of aluminum the save thickness as your base and just use that. I'm guessing it would be easy to cut a sheet of Al with a jig saw in this th...

You want to get kevlar tow, just threads of kevlar basically. Tie it to one of the edge tines, and then thread it side-to-side, looping it around the edge tines with a little bit of tension in it. I wish I could remember who was doing that, they had some good pictures of it (it was a snowboard if I...

Are you aware that this product (or something similar to what you're describing) exists? http://www.mountaingear.com/item_images/mnfct2//common/altai%20skis/l_230050_s06_dir.jpg Built-in skins, too! I realize this is skibuilders, but the OP looked like he was more interested in getting something tha...

Single or Double Press?
First off, I will say that I did try to search, but if this subject has been covered before, I couldn't figure out the right search terms, so please point me in the right direction. I've got a pair of skis under my belt that I made using a friend's pneumatic press. Prior to meeting said, friend, I h...

I have a related problem so I thought I'd post in this thread. If it's more appropriate to start a new one, let me know and I'll do that. I used clear plastic topsheets that appeared to have stuck reasonably well in most places, but more or less not at all in others. When I cut off the flash, they c...

The Spoon moves ski design into a complex world of four dimensions where shape rocker, base convexity, and cleats all must work together in a synergistic design. Welcome to the future. Really? Really? I've seen the future, and there's one more dimension. (where's the rolleye emoticon on this site) ...
