Thanks all - I'll ride unground, I've managed to get two boards mostly finished but the other two won't be ground in time for the season end. The bases aren't perfectly flat, there's epoxy on the bottom of both, but they aren't terrible. Would it be worth hand sanding, or should I leave it in case I...

VDS specifications
I'm wondering if anyone has a spreadsheet or info file on VDS? I'm having little luck getting anything out of Haberkorn, no reply after a few days. I understand some of you have bought directly so was hoping to get some help.

I've got VDS acting as a damping medium in one of my boards. I haven't ridden nor tested it yet, only came out of the press yesterday. I'll post up results when I have them. The VDS is running in the direction of the second torsional mode. For non engineers don't worry about the terminology; what's ...

Re: Swell Panik
I would love to get some superclear topsheet like skilogik uses. http://www.skilogik.com/construction.html Honestly not a huge fan of their look, but I like their style and the construction seems solid. I love the look of that clear topsheet. You think it's a actual sheet of soemthing, or a coating...

So I've had a busy week, 3 boards out since yesterday morning. Good thing is I'm getting better at bending edges by hand. They still aren't perfect but they are much better, especially on this 3rd board (in the press now). The 3rd board should be interesting, it has VDS running in the direction of t...

If you're going with Paulownia core, I'd recommend finding a hardwood for the insert stringers (assuming you're making snowboards). I used Tasmanian Oak which seems to have worked well. Paulownia is strong but fairly soft so tightening up the bindings could easily cause indentations in the wood. Ano...

Hey Richie, I'm surprised you've had no response from Crown, they were very good with me. Try Jack.zheng@crownplastics.cn or jimh@crownplastics.com. Top sheet I used wood veneer from a local supplier, inserts I can recommend Camax Tool Co - easy to deal with and very helpful, shipping was very reaso...

Yep the base is 1.2mm and the step is 1.33 so that could have been another cause, though my brain tells me that should have lessened the impact rather than accentuated it. No not using VDS on this board. A strange set of circumstances had me using carbon fibre along the edges by mistake. This may ha...

Yep using heat, I press at 85C and let it cool to 50C before pulling out. I've got my second board going in to the press tonight, with routed edges. Will let you know what changes there are. The teeth marks start and end exactly where the sidewalls meet the tip/tail spacers. The lack of routing to m...

What sort of backing on the base material did you use? I imagine a hard foam would work well, something that you can cut in to but won't deform too much. Can you post a pic of your die? I don't really think this method would be useful unless you're doing production runs, but it's interesting nonethe...

I didn't rout the edges in my first core and while the base ended up flat, there are visible indents from the teeth: http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/ad299/a_blackburn/Testing/P1000537.jpg Initially I thought it was deformation in the edges from hand bending but the marks start and end exactly alo...

Base grind necessity
Just wondering how necessary a base grind is on boards, is it pivotal? I ask because as is often the case with such projects, I'm running very late. I have to pump out 4 boards this week to get testing done before season close on the mountains here. I can do this, but I'm not sure the shop I use can...
