Re: heating a vacuum press
i will read up on heating from the top only as i would like to cut down on the complexity of my first (only??) build. I hear you about the lower wattage, i have an unheated garage so depending on the epoxy (that is my next question to you) i might move this operation into my basement which does not ...

Re: heating a vacuum press
Again, great information! I have built PID controllers for my brewing set up so no worries there. I do have a question about your statement on heating top and bottom though. When using my friends pneumatic press heating top and bottom was easy but how do you manage that with a vacuum table? If you a...

heating a vacuum press
So i am going down the road of building a vacuum press. I think i have all of the details working out regarding the pump, the table, the mould (although hoping the Wvmtnbiker is able to provide photos of his with out the metal on top) and the frame for the silicone. My next question is on heat. I ha...

Re: Mould for vacuum press
Thanks for the run down. I am pretty clear on the table itself, although the location of the vacuum line is still up in the air. If the mould is ontop of the intake then there must be some channels under the mould so the air can be removed. I am really more interested to see what others had done to ...

Re: Vacuum Press
Thanks for the response, I will check out the draftsight application and see if i can come up with a camber profile. I assume that it is user friendly? I do not have a lot of experience with CAD software. This might be a big ask but any chance you have a photo of the mould with out the topsheet? I a...

Re: Vacuum Press
That mould is exactly what I am looking to build! Low profile and it looks to be adjustable. Any chance you can send along the build details or point me to where you got the details from?

Re: Mould for vacuum press
So i dug up this post from OAC from 10 years ago (http://www.skibuilders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2531) which offers a lot of information on the table and from the photos how he built his mould. The tip and tail sections seem to be the tough part to ensure that you get the rise you want a...

Mould for vacuum press
So, i have made a couple of pair of skis so far. Both times on other peoples equipment and I am trying to set something up in my garage. The vacuum press that i used was a sandwich set up between two metal plates in a plastic bag. The camber was achieved by bending the whole package over a centre po...

Silicone sheets in north america
Hi All, I am trying to find a source for silicone sheets here in north america. I have searched the forum with no luck. I have emailed a source in Germany but they will not ship a small amount that i need and getting triple the size just so they will ship also greatly increases the shipping costs. I...
