Exact same weight as hard maple. 20 percent softer on flex. Hard to find for sale. And clear wood almost impossible. I pulled em out of the bush myself. If your in Washington/Oregon you can find them

I use the triax from basaltex. It's bomber stuff. Buying a roll will set ya back a couple bucks, but last a hobby for a while. Shipping from Belgium to Canada was fierce$$$

Can't beat the torsional rigidity, of that balanced weave though.

What kind of levelling compound did you use? I'm thinking about trying to level my presses 2 lower beams. One has a section that is a sniff lower than the other.

Try these guys. they are in europe somewhere. sell by the meter though. they are out of 720g/m currently but have a 900g/m. thin out your cores a sniff, it will get the job done. they price is right! 720 is more.

Make the split stiffer. Add 1-1.5mm to thickness between bindings. The ride may be stiffer overall, but it needs it, especially in your mode
