So I have worked with plenty of Smooth-On, but want to use one of Chemtura's Vibrathanes. The mixing and curing process that they describe is extremely intense. Do any of the people that have experience with their products (chris, montucky...?) know what parts of their procedure is critical and what...

I never spotted that on Crown's site...that probably is one source (for companies that legitimately have gallium in their base...and arent just using the term carelessly). I think you hit the nail on the head with "marketing bs"...who doesnt want Super Turbo Awesome Base. I know I do.

I want to reiterate a question from pg1: can you direct print white? How is the clarity of a minimal graphic on a carbon background with this method?

The first examples I can think of: -Wagner: World Cup Base (Ptex 4000 Electra high-carbon base) *its different than their Durajet option, so I guess that guess is out... -Nordica Dobermanns: sintered graphite Electra Gallium -Ridea: P-tex 4000 Gallium electra thats just 3 of the first 5 I checked......

what is this gallium/electra you speak of?

So I frequently see ski companies list there base material as sintered, but it has to be 4000 Gallium or 4000 Electra or even (if you're lucky) Electra Gallium 4000! So the 4000 seems pretty obvious (4000 series - from Durasurf if sintered, from Iso if extruded/unspecified). Now what does the electr...

If you measure some dry flax you should be able to get a pretty good volume fraction estimate (which has a dramatic effect on strength)...I think one of the sources you referenced mentioned the flax being more difficult to achieve high volume fractions. I'll be very interested to see what properties...

Thanks for all the info. We picked up the machine and are going to tear it down, sand, repaint, etc in the next few weeks. Maybe I will swap out those bearings preemptively while we have everything apart. How does your water pump power up? Does it start with the main motor, or is it a separate switch?

Thanks for the info! Did yours come with the autofeed or did you build one? I am guessing it would be cheaper to build than to buy separately. The machine is costing me $150, so I guess I had better grab it. Do you have a pic of yours setup with the autofeed?

Ok, so I am planning to pick up this grinder tomorrow. Its a steal, but I dont know much about grinders and want to make sure this is something I should grab and wont regret. What do people know about this machine? Do other people that have a grinder still go to a shop after to finish with a stone g...

I should clarify that I was referring to topsheet and base material only. Sidewall material is completely different. Doughboy, was your blanket statement in reference to sidewall material? Or do you feel that strongly about topsheet and base?

You mention in page 2 that you have done something to eliminate snipe from profiling; I am very curious what that is. Also, how do you manage to seal the silicone between the aluminum frames.
