Ben, Yes, I've kept a pretty detailed build log (with pictures) that I plan to post on cnczone.com in the near future. If it wasn't for that site, I'd definitely never have gotten this machine off the ground. I borrowed a lot of ideas from other machines detailed on the 'zone', so I want to share w...

very nice job ! congratulations !
Do you plan or did you already made a kind of journal about the construction of your CNC ?
Would be very interested in how you did it, I was actually looking around to find some info about building a "ski-size" CNC machine.

well, actually I got another question about profiling core with a planer : do you guys use a "2 sides crib" (to profile tip and tail in one operation) or do you profile one end at a time ? If the 2nd choice, do you feed the planner with the tip of the ski or with the middle ski ? To answer...

I'm on my first pair so I don't know if it's the best choice but my base is 2mm offset from the ski's final size. The core is 7mm offset from final size on the running length and 20mm offset on tip and tail for the tipspacer.
hope it helps.

Goat-Ham-Ah project

Hi all ! After hours of reading treads here and on other websites, I finally started building my own skis ! I first had to find what ski I will make... my program with this ski will be mainly backcountry skiing, I plan on installing Marker Duke bindings on it. I thought it would be easier for a firs...

nice informations ! very usefull ! I was wondering if ther is any problem in not using a top sheet. When using only glass fiber + epoxy as a topsheet the upper edges of your skis are more exposed to scratches (and so, cuts in the glass fibers which could lead to core exposure) while your skis hit ag...

by the way could you give us some more details about your heated blanket ? It seems to be a nice and "cheap" solution, i like it !
Congrats for your splitboard, it's one of my projects but first I have to make my first skis ;)

Great ! thanks for those answers. Actually I was not thinking press-forming my first skis but using vacuum, I'm a lot more used to this method as I vacuum-made a couple kayaks. I guess if I can make a jig to groove some shapes in the core (not complex grooves) I will be able to duplicate the same sh...

so ? how did it work when pressing those "machined core" skis ? I'm actually having a really close look on ski building and shaping a core like BD does is something I want to invistigate... The only difference with Alexis is I will vaccum-press my skis but I don't know how to do for the to...
