yuki: I didnt even think of sliding my center support down to one end for side entry and as a result, I made my molds just as long as the press (8ft). It would certainly be feasible with shorter molds, however, and would doubtlessly take some of the hassle out of loading the couple hundred pounds of...

'preciate it the cores are about 3.5mm tip and tail and 15mm underfoot. The profile is designed to be roughly parabolic without a flat spot under the binding. It is pretty clear from the sixth picture down... http://dwyer.haney.googlepages.com/therumpelstiltskis ...that the tip and tip spacer interf...

Thanks a bundle sir. I must admit that I shit my pants pretty damn hard. Luckily I was tucked behind my 300 lb work bench with safety glasses on while I was inflating the bladder. It went at a little better than 50psi, but in retrospect, the design I pulled out of nowhere was rather poor and relied ...

not to be a dink (I am), but it seems to me that buying core blanks only takes the laminating out of the process. I would think that if you can profile a core, you sure as hell can glue a couple strips of wood together. In my area, home depot sells .75in x 1.5in x pretty damn long in poplar, oak, ma...

So I've been working and traveling over the past few weeks and finally got a pair pressed and cleaned up. I've been sending out long detailed emails to friends and family (let me know if you'd like to be on the list), but since you likely already know all about the process, I'll spare you the detail...

no worries, my bro and I got a bit of a late start so it was partly my fault for missing you guys. We ended up running close to last and on the second run, i went for figure 11s and sprayed the announcers... which inadvertently shut off the PA system. I think my first run was somewhere close to 20 s...

Wasn't as much snow left around as little cottonwood, but got some skiing in and enjoyed some live music. My bro and I got on the ch2 evening news to boot!

If I'm not mistaken, SCHUSS has thrown down some pretty gnarly ass race skis that have held their own in practice. Not to detract from what SSC has been able to throw together here.

4th of July Skiing

It looks like Snowbasin is lighting up the gondola and throwing a little Independence Day shindig up in the Middle Bowl Cirque. I presume better snow could be found elsewhere, but its doubtful you'd be able to find a better atmosphere. More info here . I'm gonna be down to move my bro into Salt Lake...

The Rumpelstiltskis

Howdy all, Just like every second post in this forum it seems, this is my first build and I'm pretty damn stoked. Long before I started the project, I've thought about what my ideal ski would look like and, though many ideas came to mind, I settled upon a powder board that would be versatile enough ...

Big Kam's Photos

Just got done looking through some of Big Kam's photos on his personal page and he has some beauties in there. http://www.leang.com/kam/exposures/ If you haven't poked your nose through yet, its definately worth the time. Incidentally, I also took a peek at his personal page and it looks like I'm ju...

Thanks to everyone for the responses! G-Man: Thanks for the heads up on that principle, I'm well aware of it and I didn't literally mean that each pair of skis I want to build are going to be Long, Fat, and stiff. Definitely going to be keeping that in mind though. Idris: I'm going to get in touch w...

Long Fat Stiff Boards

howdy, I'm a mechanical engineering undergrad and I decided that instead of getting a meaningful internship this summer, I'm going to mooch off of my generous parents and build skis in their garage this summer. It was a tough decision, but I'm going to brand it as a independent research project of s...
