dutchjibber: thanks for that idea. sounds like a challenging contraption, but one that will improve strength and balance, no doubt. good luck with the training and getting your knee back up to par.

running has been my training of choice lately, mostly because it's cheap and easy to do anywhere. and now that we live close to trails, i'm much more motivated to go. but since it's been getting dark so early, i may have to find an alternative for cardio. time to join a gym! i think the balance thin...

it was an awesome day, and great to get out. snow was a lot better than i thought it would be this early in the season, though we did have to watch out for a few landmines/booby traps. good thing all my skis are rock skis! :D

ra: nice, you get a free heavenly ticket for showing up? that's awesome. i'll listen for that tele reference. :) as for tahoe, mt. rose it opening up this weekend, and i believe most of the others will be up and running around the 22nd or so...i can't wait!

the irridescent topsheet on the right pair gives those skis a really professional look. i know you used a dark colored fabric underneath, but it almost doesn't matter what color, because the skis look indigo blue from pretty much every angle. i wonder how they'd come out with light colored or white ...

i can tell the difference from your pic, the paper does make a nice improvement. what kind of paper do you recommend? do you notice that it affects the weight of the ski much?

that's a good idea with the white paper. i actually used two layers of the solid fabric, as an attempt to mask the wood from showing through, but it didn't completely work. :| for my next pair, i think i'll try your trick. might make the colors a little brighter as well.
