I made a simple slide through flame treatment set up. Had to make two small burner bars. I figured having the finished base slide onto only 3 bits of tube the damage from sliding onto these should be minimal. So far the test pieces have been promising. I can adjust the flames up and down so when I g...

yeah a negative cutter tooth angle will produce downward pressure.
Another way is to use a cutter with a positive entry angle, like a 45 degree cutter, you also get other benefits too, like increase surface finish quality and feed speed.

I use one old house dyson vacuum and get heaps of hold down.
Use small holes not a channel and use the mdf with coated faces like used in cupboards. The plain mdf is very porous and loses vacuum out all the sides.

I'm just building my control box now and am fitting a 10amp circuit breaker with a built in 2 pole RCD into each blankets supply circuit. The earth is set up pretty much exactly the same as Vinman described. Remember a RCD (residual current device or also called an earth leakage breaker) only monito...

Mate 3amps is only good for about 700 watts at 240 volts.
What sort of watts are your mats good for? You might need bigger fuses.
Unless you built your mats for only lower temps. I'm going to keep mine to about 1400 watts each.

Thanks for the pointers mate. I bought and big roll of glad bake after your recommendation too. The big roll is nice and wide too so easy to work with.
I will try out your idea of sticking it to the base too.

I've seen in the instruction pages of this site they say to slice the protective coating you put on the base of your skis. Slicing it along the join of the steel edge to base material.
Does anybody here do it that way?
I'm using contact paper over my base at the moment but not cutting this slit.

It is late here now, so I will rewrite it all in the morning, sorry mate.

you will be surprised how much vibration and deflection you can remove with different approaches to the tool path, tool cutter angle, tooth pitch etc. If you have a round edge cutter (like a cove bit) you create cutting forces at multiple angles and also quite a bit up verticle, which helps hold you...

The only sheet I had handy was only 600mm long so I wasn't getting a full pull down but it still had enough grip to pull the table over. It's a pretty heavy set up, 35mm bench top piece as the table top, then the vac box arrangement but you can see it holds a piece of wood pretty well. http://i1362....

Bunnings has aluminium flashing, 0.3 and 0.7mm thickness, but might not have the width you need. Medalia steel sells aluminum sheets, 2400 x 1200. I think they go down under 1mm but not sure just how thin. They get it from Capral, probably the biggest alli supplier in WA, and Capral also do retail s...

dbabicwa - I'm making boards mate. I only got a pot life of about 4 minutes before it started to thicken very quickly. My pot was about 4-5 inches across at the bottom and I mix by the weight recommended on the included instructions, measured on a very accurate set of digital scales. I've checked ou...
