Thanks for the feedback. The reason that I brought this up was because the manufacturers traditionally put the running surface in when they were building traditional skis with normal camber. It was pretty easy to figure out the MRS since it was half the running length (from ACP to FCP). Now they wan...

Mid Running Surface
In the past, normal cambered skis had what they call an MRS (mid running surface) which was the mid point between the forward and aft contact points. The FCP and the ACP were where the tip radius and the tail radius started to bend up. Now that we have skis built with rocker only and no camber I am ...

Draftsight is not a solidworks history based solids modeler. It is a pretty basic program that lets you draw geometry like autocad. I think Solidworks uses the program to try to draw in Autocad users because it has a very similar user interface. There are no relationships such as tangency or coincid...

It will be interesting to see where the pendulum ends up in the next couple of years. I personally think that the pendulum is way over to the left right now. I have not skied any of those odd looking Surface skis but they look rediculous. I have seen this phenomenon many times over the past 20 years...

The Solidworks site has a 2d program called Draftsight that is free and it is almost like autocad. I think they designed it to attract Autocad users. Drawing skis is not that difficult if you understand a few things about geometry. I wouldn't waste my time with Snowcad. It take liberties that makes ...

High Rocker Skis
I have been thinking about where this rocker technology is going and wanted to talk about this on the forum and get some opinions from all of you that have been experimenting. I have heard about matching flex and sidecuts as well as matching sidecuts and rocker radii. My question is if you have a sk...

[my latest design I moved the waist aft only 12mm from my usual location so it should not mess up the performance. -S As an experiment, I took one of those Brannock devices that they use to measure shoe size and noted the lengths of sizes 7 thru 12. I also measured the distance from the heel to the...

There are a couple of reasons for dual radii.(in my opinion) The first is having a ski that initiates quickly into the turn and finishes more like a GS. The second reason is sometimes you can't get the tip and tail width to work out in relation to where you put the waist or sidecut center. If you wa...

Bolster tubes and cattrack same? huh, I though he was referring to adjustable camber supports. On the factory presses, they have adjustable bars about every 3 inches under the bottom formblock plate. I can see where that could cause some faceting since these bars contact the formblock plate in a sm...

dents
Hmm, I guess that I am out to lunch here then. I did not carefully read that it was right out of the press. I am intrigued now as to what you are seeing in the 4frnt skis. Which models of 4FRNT skis did you see the dents? Elan builds all but the Renegade in Slovenia. The Renegade is built in Salt La...
