core question

hi, i am about to build my first ski and had one question. the skis im making have a 34cm tip and 24cm tail. the total length is 168cm so that means that between contact points it is only 110cm. should the core be only 110cm? longer? where should the tipspacer start? thanks!

you could adapt one of these:

http://www.svst.com/categories3.aspx?Ca ... a5cb5253fc

they don't have a 100 grit one but you could buy the cork one then attach sandpaper.

just a thought

ganipilo-
the reason we generally don't use webbing or straps is becuase of the pressure distribution. a wide sleeve of cordura distributes pressure more evenly than a thin strap. hope this helps.

i don't tele but i've done my fair share of pond skimming :D i've done it on super skinny, heavy GS race skis and on huge powder boards, of course the powder boards make it easier but just get more speed than you think, lean back a little and have fun!!!

haha ya its kinda huge. i built 2 wood "i-beams" that are a bunch of 2x4s and 2x3 bolted together with 2 2x6s on the top all rounded over with a router. it is more of a reinforcement now that i think about it. but i still want minimum deflection.

i found some really cheap ($.37) metal spring clamps at home depot that should work really nice for tacking edges onto base material.
