I have some epoxy that is 65 shore, not brittle at all and costs only $160 for 6 kilo. The cheapest smooth on price I have found is more than double that. This epoxy has been used for filling voids in timber because it flexes with the wood as it ages, it also excepts colours well and can be used to...

As I see it, and everyone is different, the PU for me works well when is pre casted, and cured off mold. Than I just use it for my boards as you would use UHMWPE. And this is not possible with epoxy coz it's too rigid, it breaks, can't be bent, can't be formed after, etc etc. And, epoxy is more expe...

Old car tires valve $0, bathroom plug stolen from a wife:) Using 450ml PE cups for mixing, they are wide enough to go...

Ok, so back to the topic. One suggestion from a local shaper is to wait for epoxy to tack a little, maybe even applying a bit of epoxy on tacked surface and than doing a hand layup with no vac or anything. Would anyone agree with this? Is a tacked epoxy a way to go? Do we need to wet out both, a top...

Thanks Reto Cool thing this inlet, cheers. What does flax do? How heavy? I suppose it's light...Looks like you're CNCing your core? The 5mm foam sheet 2400x1200 is about AU$150. Less for a bamboo. Way to expensive when you add all consumables et.al for building a board. I use a bamboo as core and Pa...

Thanks, yes, it's a fg but what kind of like E glass, S glass, biax, triax, quad...? :) Yeah, think of a topsheet on a kite board as a base on a skis. The infusion would be a nightmare for a snow board. What we can't see on this photos is how the bindings inserts are made. Are they infused at the sa...

On the other hand we don't have any shallow flatwater spots here in Switzerland... But I would give it a try. I might. Dono how to drill a zillion tiny holes without an cnc :( Heh, but you compensate with a snow in Ch:) And cheap travel, and...Well, not with the blue sky with an orange on top. That...

^ How thick is your topsheet? Is it nylon? This one is 0.3mm I think and not nylon. I do place a 0.5mm clear plastic sheet over it to minimise a vac bag imprinting. This makes at least 0.8mm of material (+a vac bag) to work out with the roller. Hard, hard yakka (aust. slang). But as mentioned, a pro...

Vaccum infusion will work too. I build my kiteboards using infusion. But for a sandwich part there are a lot of subtleties and a whole lot of new things that can go wrong. but you can get a mirror finish even without any topsheet at all. Thinking about infusion as well. Duno if is possible with no ...
