The ink on the vellum did bleed a little on the one on the right. I used a vacuum press and the vacuum combined with the epoxy pulled the red ink out. The one on the left is vellum too but the design is black and it didn't bleed. Seems to be limited to the red ink. Go figure.

Thanks guys for the good feedback. The topsheet is a clear Duravision from Crown, there is no veneer on these, the wood you see is the core and the graphics are printed on vellum or paper and placed under the topsheet. I put a 3.5oz sglass on top of the graphics and under the topsheet; this gives a ...

2 Fresh builds, give me some honest feedback please....

Finished these 2 off this weekend; looking for some feedback. I like the look but would like to hear what others think. Be honest, I can take it!

Vectorply in small quantities?

Anyone know where you can order Vectorply glass with the carbon stringers in small quantities? Say 10 yards or so... the best deal I've found is a full roll for around $800 or so and I have to drive a few hours each way to pick it up. Its not a bad deal if you break it down, I think they are 100 yar...

Sammer, thanks for the link to get belts. Do you know if I can upgrade mine to add an autofeed to it? Im hoping to get an electrician out in the next couple weeks to get a plug wired in for it then were off to the races. I have a pile of old and new boards that need a good grind. Juke, I found this ...

Fiberglass Supply up in Washington is where I get a lot of my materials, they have all the vacuum supplies you need and have some good triax glass as well as a bunch of hybrid fabrics. They are really helpful if you email with questions and get the materials to you quick. I use the yellow vacuum tap...

Welcome to your new addiction! As others have said, keep it simple on the first set, you'll probably only end up riding them a handful of times anyway before your off on the next build. Start with a vacuum press, I'm on my 3rd iteration of a vacuum press and I've made 50 boards so far using vacuum, ...

I use Maple for my sidewalls; Its hard enough for my purposes and its easier/cheaper to get that other exotic hardwoods. I put the maple in as my outside stringers when I make the core so I don't have to cut the core to shape then take another step to put on the sidewalls. Once the board is trimmed ...

Twizz, I really like the look you put together there! Think I'm going to give your idea a try with veneer and a nylon topsheet. I've got a powder, all mountain and a new splitboard in the works right now, Ill throw some pics up as I finish them.

Sorry for the delayed response, its been a busy week. These boards were pressed with base and edges in them. I use the edges as a guide when I'm trimming them out. Guess you could get away with just wood and glass but it would be hard to cut the shape without screwing up. Working on a new splitboard...
