Haha, well I was really hoping someone would respond to this thread with a hearty "I work somewhere that needs analog circuit designers!" It was worth a shot 8) We'll see about my "grinder"... It did the trick, but it was tedious. I think I'm going to pickup some load resistant v...

LeBoeuf's new 2012 skis (apocalypse skis?)

Hey all, So this year's been a wild one... My old employer (Xilinx) decided to shut down our site here in the burque. I decided that silicon valley wasn't for me and have since been gainfully unemployed for the last 2 months. In that time I finished my MSEE so hopefully I won't be tempted to continu...

I did all of the welding on my press with the quintessential 120V POS H****r F*****t flux core wire feeder. My brother in law is a pro and he basically had me weld stuff together then do destructive tests to judge heat penetration and quality. A cheater bar welded to something will tell you pretty q...

Wow.... That is impressive! Just a thought: Could you judge your feed based on an optical sensor to look at the passing teeth? You could write your CNC code based on what tooth you are on. I'm not sure if a "tooth" of resolution would be good enough though... Basically the same concept tha...

Krp, Awesome. I'll order some later tonight. Being that I don't have epic Montanna pow to ski, my pow days involve a lot of crud. My last day up at Silverton pointed out some flaws in my fat skis. Namely I get some torsional flex from the furthest contact point of my ski to the center of my bindings...

Krp,
I've never worked with carbon so this may sound stupid...

Could you cut the uni down across its width easily? As in take the 11in width and cut that down to 1in widths?

Man I'm jealous...
We had one of the worst seasons on record here...
Bitter cold; had 4 days skiing where the temp was under -20F.
No snow... Northern NM and southern CO just didn't get snowed on...

Haha maybe I'll roll up to abasin to get some of that summer pow....

Caught a random 7" day up at Taos last Sunday. The new skis killed it! Also found my 3 year old whiskey stash! Left it up there after a summer ski retrieval episode.... Also the rock I landed wrong off of, resulting in the lost ski lol. It lost all its color, still tasted as nasty as normal cmi...

Not that I have vast ski building experience but I make sure to clamp my cut material to my template immediately and I don't unclamp it until my edges are fully attached.

Things have worked out under varying shop temperatures without any issues so far :)

So what happens when you hit a hard spot when you're soaring some back country big mountain hit? You get like 1" of effective edge to get control at 40mhp? Completely useless at a resort, but even further how would you use this in the backcountry where variable terrain is standard? I'm not sure...

The ski's are done! I have had them out for a day. Our last storm was a complete bust so I took them up to the ski area here in town to see how they would do on bulletproof ice. For the most part they rocked! I have to charge a bit to get them to carve but they really held their own on icy bumps and...

Both skis are cut out. We're supposed to get a foot of fresh this week! I can't wait to try these out. http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Wg1MC2gQUq8/TTVXyHriCrI/AAAAAAAABTE/ad6lzVLQ9ok/s800/DSCN1719.JPG Shot of the camber: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Wg1MC2gQUq8/TTVXylXwDyI/AAAAAAAABTI/CoxvEjNIkdI/s800/DSCN1721.JPG
