Another blanket. Three circuits, 240v and about 1500 watts. Heating area is about 85" long and 16" wide. It ended up about 1.5mm thick and i can feel the wires through the cloth. The lead wires are 8g silver heat resistant wire I had. Over kill, but the price was right. Price- $100.00 #2 t...

I recently used some cypress on a cabinet project. It was reclaimed from huge pickling barrels. Beautiful stuff and I enjoyed walking into my shop to the smell of dill pickles. I did wipe it down with acetone prior too gluing as it seemed fairly oily.

Looks really good. Nice buss bar. Wait till you see mine....I just finished my first blanket and it we well. One potential issue I have is that I can feel the wires. Is that going to be a problem?. I figured adding another layer of glass and silicone could help. I'll post pics. How do I make the pic...

Here are some pics of the planed uhmw,( i think...). Twizz's comment about pulling apart from the wood is possible, but I have no experience with that yet.
It seemed to cut like butter.
Also a couple pictures of my Ipe cat track

I had a piece of uhmw laying around so I ran it through the planer with spiral cutter. It seemed to work very well for a 1 1/4 wide x 3/4" x 48" strip. I planed it down to about 1.5 mm at the ends.
I'll try to post pics.

Hi, I'm still building the tools to build skis, but have followed the comments concerning plastic sidewall tear out. After many years using a Makita 15" two knife planer(amazing machine no longer produced), I replaced it with a powermatic 20" w/ spiral cutter head. NEVER would i go back to...

Hello everyone, My Dad and I have read this thread thoroughly in an attempt to formulate and eventually match the various heat blanket ideas manifested here.. Hoping troublemaker still has any 25 Ga nichrome R wire, our design is a mat with a heated area of 15"x78". On paper it looks like ...

Bumper sticker

I was leaving the DOL after my son got his drivers license and the subaru next to us had a ski builders sticker on the back. As a fledgling builder I was excited there are others like me in my neighborhood ... I want one.

Sounds like the cat track method might add a little more flexibility, whether it's a 1 or 2 ski press. I'll have to sleep on this(laying awake at 2am)....

Thanks Shif, that was quick. Can a adjustable press form be used? It seems to me the forces across the laminate would vary using either method based on the accuracy of the upper and lower press form fit? The ski width issue makes sense. Could you add extra 1/4" hard board to stiffen the form? W...

Hi, I've been "doing my reading" for a while now and my son and I want to build some skis. This site is an amazing wealth of information thanks to all the contributors. Six months ago the plan was to build a single ski, heated press as it seemed it would make things more economical and we'...
