Put a topsheet on the ones up a bit which say send it. Turned out amazingly. I did fabric with a clear nylon topsheet over, but left a small part at the bottom empty to see the wood burned logo. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/779/21567906602_3a02b7214e_z.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5659/2095805...

Yep, just trace the pieces with a router. By far the quickest most accurate way I have done. Also, I would definitely recommend getting a large print out on a single piece of paper like I have in these pictures. I have tried printing on regular pieces of paper and connecting them, but its really har...

One of my last pairs I painted the top layer of fiberglass for a graphic and added a thin coat of polyurethane. I really like how the turned out and after some solid days on them haven't noticed any more damage their topsheets than I get on my other skis topsheets. Theres a few pictures on my journal.

Just finished a new pair on which I tried lightly burning things into the core. I really only burned the surface so that there aren't any lines in the wood that are week points. They also came out with the flattest base I have had so far. With some work on my belt sander I was able to get them prett...

Just finished up this pair of park skis a few weeks ago. Here they are without a topsheet. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/325/18933685234_7533e34a29_c.jpg Skis have a poplar core with oak sidewalls, 181cm 88mm under foot. Painted the graphic, then coated it in a poly-urethane. Not sure how long that ...

twizz, I make the template in 3 parts. First I make a sidecut template, a single template I flip to cut each side as mentioned in comments above. I then make tip and tail templates. I trace all of these onto a single piece of MDF with a router. Probably not the easiest way, but its nice because I ca...

Awesome thanks for the info. As far as cutting my base material I have been using a router and tracing the template with the bad clamped on top.

warped base?

So. My latest pair of skis with my new complete press went great, I thought. Its sort of hard to explain what exactly happened, but one side of the ski has much less sidecut than the other. At first I figured I just totally screwed up on my template and didn't notice, but after looking at the templa...

Scrap fire hose

http://www.firehosesupply.com/collections/scrap-fire-hose/products/copy-of-scrap-hose-4-5-double-jacket A while back I bought some 5 inch scrap hose from this site for a single ski press, and had no problems with it. I recently bought 25 feet of retired hose from a different site, repurposed materia...

Here's the new press I had welded up a few weeks ago. Its a clam shell press, I'll get more pictures up soon. https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7536/16073293118_3805584e8a_c.jpg Here is my newest ski. Turned out great, except for a slight topsheet shift while pressing. It was the first ski I used a vacu...

Finally figured out pictures, ha. Here is the 1st ski I ever made. Make with very little research, money, and knowledge. Despite the crappy construction and use of a clamp press I was able to get a whole season out of these skis. That is until one of the sidewalls fell off. https://www.youtube.com/w...

I had the problem where my beams were slightly concave. What I did to help flatten the beams is I bought some Bondo all purpose putty ($25) and spread it on the beams. I then took a piece of angle iron and ran it across the beams to smooth out the putty. Worked super well and was cheep.

Here is the Facebook page for Offset skis. Don't have tons of pictures on it, but there are a few of my skis, pictures of the shop (super messy), press, and other stuff. Feel free to give it a like for more updates as we continue building.

Idris,
How much thicker would you say the flax composites are than a glass composite after it is pressed?
