Been awhile. Figure I would bump this up with some current factory photos. Took these in the middle of production so sort of a mess, but we finally have a factory that runs (fairly) efficiently. It is crazy how much factory space changes - already have new things we are working on for 2016. http://c...

Razor blade + Sheet sander. Best, most consistent method we have found.

I'd be interested in giving it a shot too. We always like to try different things.

That might be the best thing I've seen since 333 profiling cores with a chainsaw.

Re: CNC vs Planer

For one-offs the CNC seems the only way to go. However, I would think if you found a core profile that really worked for you and you wanted to crank out 5 sets of cores the planner might be faster. This. Prototypes = CNC. Production = Planer. Speed isn't even close. We have a decent planer (though ...

From my experience, easiest and most consistent method was to profile then route the edge notch using a rabbet bit on a router table. You obviously need to be careful that you don't go too deep, but that is the method I prefer if I need to do it.

Profile core.

Profile sidewall.

Rip profiled sidewall

Attach.

No emotional pain.

Still surprised when I see people trying to profile with sidewalls attached. Much easier ways....

This was originally Hydrant71's Press (jason). We bought it but never ended up using it (was a bit small for our longer skis) so sold it and just built our own. Not sure what it still has but this is what it looks like when set up: http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h94/hydrant71_2006/snowboard%20con...

hey iggy looks like your latest vacc hold down has 2 spots where the vacuum "sucks" did you make some other types with a central vacuum hole then end up with the double hole? mine have a central vacchole and i find on long skis the suction at the ends is weak. Maybe our first year we had ...

Ridgid Shopvac from home depot. Lifetime warranty so just go in and swap it when the motor burns out. I still have that nice vac pump if someone wants it to vacuum bag skis. Not sure why we haven't sold it yet. I will put it up for sale soon. But yeah - my advice is go simple and cheap. Don't try to...

Iggy - feel free to jump in at this point Sounds like the problem got resolved for the OP but just my brief experience.... I hate prebending. Absolutely hate it. I did it all through my home building in Tacoma, and the first hundred or so pairs of ON3Ps back in our first season of production. Chang...
