Has to be one of the most successful "Outside the Box" projects I've seen here over the years. The easier and cheaper you can keep this hobby the better. I find myself getting so caught up in the process, that I never get anything done. How has the cloth been holding up? I know early on yo...

funny, I though t you worked in the industry. It is common knowledge that VDS is for bonding/sealing and has no dampening at all. Maybe if you sandwiched the entire core in a wrap of rubber, but then the skis would be heavy as hell like allot of rossi skis. If it works to assist the bond of the edg...

Telehead? Wow! Figured you'd be out motorcross racin'. That's my goal for this summer. Get some cores made before falls sets in and then show you how it's done. I guess I better stop trash talking ya now that you're cruising the board.

P.S. Don't waste all the epoxy on those tele things.

The Godfather's coming to Reno? If you throw a bbq, I'll bring the beer and brats! The local community college (TMCC) tried to support a ski building class two springs ago. Tremendous turnout but the teacher was a complete bonehead and it destroyed what could have been a great program. It's too bad....

Yep, It's snowing at Tahoe. Now if you attach all those spacers together from the outside with one long narrow board before you remove them you will have a comb for that ski. Then, next time you want to profile that design, you insert the comb and plane. That's the only difference between what you h...

It's all good alexisg1. I still haven't got around to finishing my adjustable profiler. We've been working on just getting some skis built.

I look forward to seeing the results.

Cheers!

P.S. It might actually snow in Tahoe today?

So if you are pressing bottom heat only what temps and duration are you using? Again, I'm using the QCM epoxies. Why you ask? After eating more than my share of pizza (right!) KT and I decided to do a quick test lay-up/full press trial before attempting our first ski. Not only was I light on the epo...

This is how I am going to handle my spacers. I mentioned it earlier in the post and either everyone thought I was nuts or I didn't explain it well. When I get to the point that you are at, I'm going to throw it back on the saw and cut a 1/4" deep by 2" wide groove along the top outside of ...

Heat Blanket - Bottom Only

I was chatting with Idris and mentioned I was planning on using only one heat source located on the bottom. I guess will increase camber. Is anyone else using bottom heat only? Short of reducing the camber of my press are there other pressing techniques that can be used to reduce camber? Cure temp/P...
