Re: Tip and Tail Fill for Rockered Skis

I taper the core to 1-1.5mm and it never cracks, but do have some problems with pushing it down in the mold when its a tight turn in the nose
Bur for pow ski, with a long gradual tip, there are no problems...

Re: Resin under base tip and tail at the edges

Maybe the tip bend of the mold is to steep to puch everything down. I'm thinking of trying to put a block on top of the vaccum and puch is down with 2 clamps. The core is only 2mm thick in the tip and tail so that will bend, the topsheet is a wood veneer 1-1.5mm thick. When i do a full edge wrap, de...

Resin under base tip and tail at the edges

So, I have made about 10 pairs of ski's in the last year and a have. And the first hade some resin/epoxy in the base but not so much. But the laste few i made all had a lot of resin under the tip and tail at the edges. When i did a full wrap edge it was everywhere along the edges. Now i did a 3/4 wr...

Tip and tail rise

How much tip and tail riser do you use?

I made mine at about 40mm for my allround, and for my rocker 55mm.
I do like the look of it, but when compairing to other skis, its like only the half :?

I havent tested them in powder but on the slopes that doesnt make e real differents ..

Re: Flaxfiber sidewall/ sidecut

Timw that was what i was thinking of doing. But can I do this with all the layers? so non of the fabric is going over the edge? maybe an opposite rabbet, so the sidewalls are thicker then te core it self, so there is no gap between the layers That will maybe not give a good bond between the vds tape...

Re: Flaxfiber sidewall/ sidecut

thnx for the input. On this pair the vaccuum dit drop at a certain moment, and I did not see it until a few hours later. So mabey that is way it is more noticeable to me. And yes, more pressure would probably make it thinner, I do think it is thinner on my other skis, where I had almost perfect vacc...

Flaxfiber sidewall/ sidecut

I allways have a not so neat looking line between the sidewall and base/edge and the topcoat formed by the (flax) fiber. ( see picture) Is there something wrong with my setup of is this "normal"? How can make it look better? https://i.ibb.co/9yvZ2F0/255cf195-23f6-4034-ab0a-d68a5de156bc.jpg...

Re: Ripped up my latest build

the core was not oild, it was sanded down to profile. sanded to fine? I put some serious strength into breaking them. The epoxy was from a local supplier, but i have already changed to another, that feels much better. I had put to much camber on the ski so it was rubbish anyway, so i broke it to see...

Ripped up my latest build

So i just ripped my latest build apart to see how the inside looks like. Its a beech en pauwlina core, flax en carbon lay up, and a oak wood veneer topsheet. I put the ski in a buckle and started bending it till it broke. I did not expect the core to brake so soon ( about 60°) Not enough epoxy on th...
