I am surprised to see no replies so far to this ad... I know I would have loved to snatch that up when we started up... Just to think of the money and time savings - maybe the true cost of things is not obvious when you first get into ski building and $1500 seems like a lot? Actually it's a bargain,...

topsheet question
plywood -
wow! those skis look amazing! My question is: how do you protect the veneer? Varnish/clear epoxy or clear plastic topsheet?
Anyways, really a job well done, very impressive (as always)

pidsss
personally I use 2 controllers, 1 for the bottom blanket, 1 for the top blanket. Unless you have a fancy "dual" controller with 2 temperature inputs and 2 controlling outputs (don't know if such a thing exists...) then you will not get accurate control on one of the blankets with a single ...

2 blankets from 1 pid
it depends what you mean by controlling 2 blankets... If you mean 2 small identical blankets used to cover the entire bottom (or top) surface of your ski, then as long as you're confident that the temperature is somewhat uniform across the 2 blankets you should be fine. If you mean controlling top a...

man I'm not even jealous. In fact looking at your pix I can feel a little bit of that oh-my-god-I-can't-believe-how-f**ing-good-this-snow-is feeling that you get when it's light, deep and floaty all at the same time.
So thank you, post some more

funny you ask this question... We have just pressed our first ski using 1/16th aluminum on the bottom... and the sheet clearly took the shape of the molds' ribs below. We have the bottom mold (1' spaced ribs), then one layer of masonite, then the heat blankets, then the 1/16th alum sheet, then the s...

we are using a PID for temp control, but the gap between the blankets is wider than 3cm... Maybe that's our problem. We'll definitely put the sensor under a blanket on the next try, I think it'll help. I'll also read the PID manual to see if we can tune it for less aggressive / more undershoot behav...
