Re: Wood Cores near Utah

Hi Carlduke!

I'd be happy to build cores for you. I've got access to poplar, paulownia, and maple. Reach out to me at thelongride2 at gmail.com and let me know what type of cores you're looking for.

Cheers,
Peter

Materials: Tipfill and Base

I’ve ended up with some surplus materials, thought I’d put them up here if anyone has interest. Pricing should be a little less than 1/2 price from US materials suppliers. Located in Redmond, WA. Willing to ship as well(I’ll have to get a quote from UPS). 3 rolls available: Crown uhmw tipfill 2mm th...

Dye Sublimation with Showthrough to Core

Does anyone know how to only sublimate portions of a topsheet? In my experience a sublimated clear topsheet looks like stained glass until it's backcoated with white ink. The backcoat makes it almost impossible to leave intricate showthrough of carbon or core underneath. Just the pure sublimated &qu...

Re: Blending Effective Edge with Tip Width Radius

My simple solution would be placing a tangent constraint on the two curves, but maybe I'm not understanding the question?

Re: Ski engineering

What Sleeping awake has written is by far the most concise way of putting this. Plus you can get surprisingly accurate results of the flex down the length of the ski.

and @sleepingawake. If you'd be willing to share, I'd absolutely love to see another's work

Looking for Stone Grinder

Looking for Stone Grinder in the Pacific NW. Local here in Seattle would be excellent, but elsewhere in driving distance would be good as well.

No specific brand or anything. Just something inexpensive I can beat up running many pairs of skis over.

Re: ICP 8210 Bonding Issues

Are you laying the ICP directly on the veneer? I believe this might be the issue. Getting two stiff, relatively resin phobic sheet goods to bond directly to eachother in a dynamic situation like this is a challenge. Adding fiber inbetween would help. Perhaps a very light fiberglass veil would help?

Re: Effects of an inbalanced layup on camber and tip/tail heights

I've played around with something similar, though opposite in layup to what you are currently thinking. I've run carbon tension layers, and a carbon/glass hybrid compression. In essence there are considerably more fiber bundles in the top layer, and the result is a fairly asymmetric layup. I haven't...

Re: Vertical Fiber in Cores

Interesting, so they've dropped the flax altogether?

that would make it look like perhaps it doesn't have the benefits it seems at first glance

Vertical Fiber in Cores

This may have been discussed before, but I see a few major manufacturers running vertical strips of aluminum in their cores. And in effect connected the top and bottom fiber layers (making the I beam we are all so familiar with). I wondered if anyone has laminated up cores with fiber in between each...
