Thanks 24Dave. I am vacuum pressing and will try to build into the core screws for karakoram ultraclips. Clips have slotted holes so the fit want be a problem. Instead of countersink in base I will make countersink into woodcore. So everything will be the same, just screws will be 1,2mm higher. And ...

Not to open new topic, I will ask here. Has anybody tried to build bridge in splitboard where hooks/clips are placed and mount screws into the board? New Jones split with ultraclips did that. They dont't drill through the base for screws, but they make little thicker area (bridge) where hooks are an...

Sidewalls are 7mm ABS, expect for the last snowboard I used white UHMW which was easier to bend. I used heat gun for bending all the sidewalls. In the future I will try wooden sidewalls.

Powderboards - season 1

Hello. I finally find some time to post some of my last year work. I year ago I got a job at R&D for big ski/snb manufacturer. If I would keep the job I would quit snowboarding by now. After a month I left the job, got back to my old full time job as heavy machinery designer and began with my ow...

Probably it is a beginner question so I will ask it here. Accidentally, I sanded bottom of the wood core unevenly. Too powerful belt sander:). Will epoxy fill uneven core and make base flat, or will I get uneven base. I assume / hope it will be flat. When i put a patch of carbon underneath bindings ...

veener wrinkles

I`ve made 4 snowboards with veener topsheet. Two of them have fold or wrinkles where vacuum suction hose was placed. And it is stiff, so I assume vacuum pump sucked more epoxy to this place. At the end of the hose I use teflon cup with slot. Under the cone I place a patch of flow mash and two layers...

I don`t think grip tape is ok. I used some rubber for surfboards. For next one I will use eva traction control rubber which is proper thing but it is quite expensive.

Rubber for powdersurf

After building first tree powderboards I would like to make powdersurf (bindingless snowboard). Do anyone know where can I buy traction control rubber in Europe? Maybe some rubber for surfboards. Any suggestions?

Thanks for information. I really didn`t know that epoxy comes through veneer. Now i will tape only two different veneers together with tape that 24Dave mentioned (flash tape?). Btw, Akiwi very good and useful journal. When I am going to make veneer with cap I will make same tests beforehand and roun...

veneer top sheet cap

I would like to have bamboo veneer for snowboard top sheet on cap constructioin. Anybody does cap construction with veneer top sheet? Does it wrap around 45degree sidewall nicely? And are there any problems with unpeeling masking tape off the veneer? I will be using vacuum press.

Thanks, Jure

Twizzstyle you are probably right. I didn`t think too much about basic physics behind:) Now I also think it will increase bending stifness about the longitudinal axis, which may not be bad for snowboard that has the widests points at 35cm.

Quadrax fiberglass

Hi. Great forum, with a lot of enthusiasts and knowledge! I`m planning to make unique snowboard for deep pow only. It will be extra wide 35cm, well tapered, reverse sidecut, full poplar vertically laminated tip to tail core (thickness 3.5-8-3.5 mm), flat rocker just out of bindings, no edges, full a...
