Vacuum with catrack
In reply to Mikes comments on vaccum pressure. It's true that you can attain 12.5 psi, but what you have to remember is that it's 12.5 psi over the entire pressed area where as a bladder produces its pressure over maybe a 3" wide section of cat track. What I have been doing is using a cat track...

Ski Flex
I think most people have seen what Endre and Bambi have done with ski flex measurements and predictions... Very good work. What I am trying to do is find actual measurments of ski thickness/reinforments used and how they relate to Endre's stiffness measurements. I have tried to measure my skis in th...

Womens ski
Could anybody offer any advice for core thicknesses for a womens ski with a running length of 140cm (162 cm total). I was thinking 10mm in the middle running 12 cm in front and 20 cm behind the cord center tapering to 2mm at the tip/tail and using 22oz triax. Hoping this will not be too soft? I've m...

Mark, Very nice setup!!!! I've got a few questions for you. 1. What thickness of aluminum did you use? Did you permently attach the aluminum (glue)? 2. is there any hardboard, etc. below the aluminum 3. Did the breather (red stuff in photo) leave any indents on your board. I am used to using the whi...

I've done some test samples with a router and a core profiler with straight rails. Just put a wedge shim under your router bridge and route perpendicular to you base. You have to move the bridge at approx. 10mm increments then route again. You can angle your bridge enough to leave very deep fish sca...

Dante, Mold looks killer. I've been using something very similar for surfboard molds for a few years. The difference I did was used acrylic instead of lexan. When I started doing skis the acrylic would break every once in a while at the tips (more curve than surfboards). How is the lexan holding up?...

Flame Treatment
I have built 4 pairs of skis with wood sidewalls and now want to try and build abs sidewall into the next pair. I plane my cores with the sidewall attached thus leaving a smooth finish top and bottom. To roughen the sidewall top/bottom and flame treat does anyone have any special techniques as to no...

Hi, Nice looking skis!!!. I'm curious about your mold. How do you attach the formica to an adjustable mold. I am assuming that the formica is removable so the mold can be adjusted. Do you have any problems with is cracking at the tip radius? I've used acrylic plastic clamped to the mold but it break...
