I successfully profiled the core. I was really close to going through becaue I didnt tape down the middle so it was higher then the sides, resulting in the middle being cut thinner then the sides. I was cutting it at 3mm and once I passed over the middle, I saw a small hole. I changed the depth high...

Got some good news guys, Just profiled half the new core and its looking great so far. I looked at what was wrong with my last profiler and tried to fix them for the one I just used. These were; Flat 'bars' (long strips of wood router slides over), better router depth, better adhesion between core a...

You got lucky, Same exact thing happened to me but my router went all the way through the wood and ruined it.

Are you saying they aren't usually that thin? My boards going to wide (i have size 13 boot) so that will make it stiffer. I only weigh 140-150 lbs too.

It matters. Decreasing your core thickness by even .1 makes a difference in how stuff your core will be. I can usually feel a flex difference a around .3 mm when hand flexing. Not only that but you run the risk of having your inserts press into your base. The glass and the topsheet might save you o...

What size inserts did you get? Those don't look very deep. What dimensions are you making your core? If your inserts are good quality stainless steel then magnets won't find them. You will also need to melt some wax into the inserts as those look like they haven't got anything filling the threads e...

When taping the base and topsheet, is it ok to use masking tape? I've only seen people use packing tape or the vinyl sheet stuff

Got back from the hardware store couple minutes ago. I picked up some rubber and metal washers for my vacuum connection to the bag. Tested it out on a ziploc bag and it looks like it works great. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p183/hencentpercent/imagejpg1_zpsd02ebc76.jpg Also got my materials f...

I'm getting ready to buy the epoxy and vacuum stuff but the vacuum film is making the shipping expensive because of how long it is. What's the difference between the strechlon or normal vacuum film and stuff like painters plastic?

The resin research epoxy from fiberglass supply only lists fast hardener. That still won't be enough time. skidesmond has a ton of experience and it still takes him more than 35mins to do a layup. I bet the majority of mine are longer than that. Buy direct from resin research (2000CE) and get slow ...

I completely forgot to look at the cure times. Im used to working with UV polyester resins and there is no work time for that. Im probably going to get resin research from fiberglass supply because I still need some vacuum materials.

TAP Epoxy seems expensive. I've used QCM/Forrester and Resin Research. I liked Resin Research because it wets out nicely. I always had to warm up QCM to get it to wet out thoroughly. Just bought Entropy Bio Resin (going for the green products) and gonna give that a try. I heard good things about it...

I actually have one of those in my garage, I'm assuming you treat it before putting the edges on, how long do I have to treat it for? Like do I just run the flame over the base quickly or am I trying to get the plastic warm?
