titanal - bonding .6mm

I have also been playing with some .6mm titanal layers for my topsheet. I have heard in the past about the spring effect of skis when they hit snow - I am curios as to how much effect this will have. I am only running titanal on the topsheet and am about to take a prototype on snow soon. I did lose ...

Starting up shop - tuning services? used gear? advice

I have been building skis for the last few years and have been selling a few to some friends. For the last several years I have been tuning for a local ski shop so that I can have access to ski tuning machines for my builds. I also work a lot of side hustles flipping old gear during the season to su...

ok - so I don't ride narrow stance - ha! I have had a lot of people out riding my skis (park, powder - all over mtn) and they get chipped... If your dropping cliffs or hitting jumps your skis are going to smack into each other. http://s19.postimg.org/lf9sf9av7/IMG_1962.jpg I have adjusted my edge be...

new idea for protecting wood sidewalls - thoughts?

I posted last month for some ideas on protecting wood skis and got some really good input and tried out a few methods to protect wood - poly coat, clear plastic sheet over wood, epoxy coat, 2k spray coat. Some of these methods did protect the skis a bit more but nothing holds up to a metal edge smac...

Cooling - so yes I allow my skis to cool in press for 45min after pressing with heat for 30min at 180f. I found that if I pulled them early my bases would not come out as flat. So as soon as I heal up some more I am going to try and do full leangth vert bamboo (broken ribs suck - I just sneezed and ...

I also have heard that making cuts in the tip and tail helps prevent delamination... I am not sure the reason. I would think a solid tip rap would distribute impact and make tip stronger... Maybe its just easier for manufacturers.

A few of my theories of probs

I have a few theories as to why the ski bent so much at tip... before I begin explaining here is another pic of the worst ski bend I have had. This ski is all 12oz glass (trying to get weight down) and it bent really bad. So in the pic you will see 2 sets of skis. They are different models but they ...

Ski Bending - help...

Hello hoping to get some input on my ski build design and problem solve some issues with my build. I have been pressing skis for a few seasons now - mostly following examples I have seen on here to learn the ropes. This season I tried to branch out and make my own unique design (layup and topsheet) ...

Im not sure you will have much luck with bamboo cap - Most likely bamboo will crack it has a hard time taking on bends especially ones going with grain/lamination. I use bamboo on my topsheets but I don't do cap construction so the bamboo is mostly flat. I have pressed a few bamboo longboards in the...
