Thanks for the detail answers, guys. Richuk, the resin is not hitting the floor. Actually, there is very small amount, squeezing out of the cassette, but it is liquid and it is flowing into the mold. We use entropy resin. When we press a board, first we hit the pressure up to 4 bars and then we ramp...

Squeezed epoxy?
What are you doing with the squeezed epoxy during pressing?
Do you remove it immediately or you wait for it to cure completely?
It makes big mess around...

Until you have profiled the core you cant tell if you have bubbles or not. For me the pressure box is easier than controlling temp or humidity and my pu looks like glass when it comes out of the box. You can see your reflection in it. We already profiled one core and there are not bubbles. We will ...

Nah, it is not that. The temperature is not so relevant as moisture in the air and a core. I agree. Moisture in the core is the main trouble. The PU contacts with the water and bubbles appear. We can`t remove that water, so next option is to seal it inside the core. Sanding the channel - IMO this i...

Thanks for the update! What exactly is this wood impregnator you're using? It is not something special. We bought it from local hardware store. http://s27.postimg.org/wdetc5dun/IMG_20131202_190223.jpg Drying time is not as short as we would like - 3 hours in room temp.... First time we did not wait...

Looks like almost everybody have troubles with those bubbles. We made some tests with smoth-on products. Our final result is more than excellent. You don`t need any pressure/vacuum chambers. All you need is sanded and impregnated channel surface. We use cheap high speed rotation tool for sanding the...

Surprise.. Nobody wants to dry our poplar decks, because they are too wet. The kilns we found are suitable for 40-50 cubic meters lumber. We have just 1 :D We will keep the wood in our house for the next season. What do you think about fir? We found kiln dried fir for reasonable price. Fir is listed...

For sure there is difference in the mechanical properties of young and old trees. When we buy so raw material, it is good to know what to take exactly. Next time we will get some older trees in order to find out what is better. Thanks for the answers. We found very cheap kiln nearby - the price for ...

Poplar - perfect condition
The winter is coming and it is time to make some good cores. We did not find any poplar lumber in good condition for reasonable price locally. So we just bought 10 poplar trees. They are in the sawmill at the moment :) We picked them up right from the forest. There were a lot of different trees - yo...

Re: Heat blanket
Hm, your heat wire is crossing insulation on main 220V. Are you guys confident this will not burn slowly? Or did I miss something and everyone is doing it this way? Other than that, good work! Good luck. There is one long narrow strip (2x30 cm) of heat resistant silicone below that main wire. This ...

Nice job. The first time you inflate the press is always a bit scary. Good idea to take cover :) We calculated the force before the initial start and the result was quite scary: Approximately, the contact area is 5400 sq.cm. (180x30=5400) The pressure is 5 bars = ~ 5.1 kg/sq.cm. So in total the for...

Balkan press
We finaly finished our pneumatic press. It was real challange for all of us, just because sourcing all these materials is not easy at all here in Bulgaria. We were looking for second hand I-beams for a while. We did not find nothing attractive. Also all procedures as cutting, drilling and transporta...
