Railway track is made from manganese steel. It is tough and work hardens with use. If youve ever noticed the machines once in a while that run down the tracks very slowly with steam pouring out are annealing the track after much use as the track will crack and break if this process isn't carried out...

Vin, I've done some looking at suppliers like CST and I think youre right on with the description of "tow". thanks I have an idea of how i would orient the strands but I have no idea of how much to add...I dont want 2x4's and I think i would err on the stiff side. Is there a rule you use? ...

Thanks for the feeback, MM...do you have any tips for figuring out the flex? I was thinking of carrying the taper of the core into the rocker tip just past the front contact point also using a strip of carbon under the core. any thoughts here? Thanks Sam, The info was helpful. There is a local co. that works out of Victoria Airport. Hey Sam,

I'm just getting into the ski building thing on Vancouver Isl.

Just wondering where you are getting supplies from?

I want to go with a bamboo core and the only source I have is Windsor Ply @ $36 for 1x6x8'.

How about base and edge material?
