They are 181 cm, 125mm, 82mm, 110mm. Full camber, no rocker. Well, when you flatten the camber, there is a bit of early rise. regular 2001, I think, p-tex, full wrap tip on the edges, 1/2" vds on top of the edges on the side, the fat vds in the tip and tail. 1 layer in the tip, two in the tail,...

Someone should go to this. Maybe we should start a scholarship fund. Or maybe one of these university materials science courses could sponsor someone.

The black stripes on top are 1" plain weave 5.6 oz carbon fiber tape. There is also a piece of that running full length down the center under the core. Yes, the press is sorta scary. Originally I could do two skis at once, but the power in my garage will not handle enough heater to cover the wh...

Second Pair of Skis

Just finished these. Too bad it's Summer. Had a little problem with epoxy not going everywhere it was supposed to, but I hope it will be ok.

Recycling

Anyone had any luck recycling unused waste material, i.e.: excess base material left after cutting out base, excess top sheet and sidewall material, un-epoxied scrap fiberglass and carbon cloth? I hate to just send all that stuff to the dump.

Epoxy gone bad

I just opened my gallon of QCM epoxy, for the first time, which has been patiently waiting for more than a year for me to have time to build again, and I had a gallon of waxy semi cured, I guess, resin. Perhaps it got too hot in my garage. Luckily I had a resin kit from snowboardsupplies.com , which...

Heating blankets

G-Man - I was wondering about your specific set up. I also have two 3" x 36" heating blankets, 5 amps each. My controller has an internal 10 amp relay. I was wondering, when wiring this together, if I should put the blankets in series or parallel. At first I thought in series, which is eas...

Heat on top only

This is an interesting discussion, and I am curious how heating only on the Top only will affect camber. I was thinking of heating only on the top because it would make the problems of core alignment and all that easy to deal with, i.e just use a few nails like in an unheated press. My mold has 20 m...

Well, you don't have to flame treat the base material because it's already prepared for bonding on one side, and as for flame treating regular sidewall materials, G-man's posts scare me.
