Thanks for the input. That is roughly 430mm.
The I beam style has the advantage of unrestricted side access so there will never be an issue with overhang from fibreglass etc.

Press width in relation to board width

Hey guys. How wide is your press and are you happy with it? Do you wish it was wider or narrower? I plan on making a cage style press like ben_mtl has done so it can be disassembled easily but I am unsure of how much extra width I should incorporate into it. My board design is 315mm at the widest po...

If you run a few welds across the top side of the top beam it will pull a slight curve into it which will counter act the flex.

Just look up a local abrasive supplier. I get belts made up to my specs for some machines I have. You should be able to order any quantity, obviously the more you buy the more you save.

I would love to see some pics of this system. Do you superglue a small dowel to the base before the resin is applied or something?

Awesome looking designs there mate. Its good to see some swallowtails.
I have toyed with the idea of a basic 3d nose on the board I have designed but my main turn off is alignment of the layup in comparison to the mould. Are you pressing or vac bagging?

Cheers mate, everything you see there is from my own hands. I have done much more radical stuff than that but the racing scene is a secretive one so I can't really post pics.

Bamboo tip fill?

I see a lot of people having success with bamboo core and sidewall but still using a ptex tip fill. Has anyone tried just using bamboo for the entire length of the job?
