Copy that. I was planning on using tape to seal the edge with the trough method so it will fill without overflowing.

Ok today I routed out a few cores so they can be urethane filled mote style. I can already tell this will be the best method. I have cores prepped for 3 different methods. 1. Mote style with unprofiled core 2. Trough method with profiled core 3. Trough method with unprofiled core I will post pics an...

chrismp, I was just checking out your thread and your mote method is excellent. I think that is the best way to pour the urethane.

I definately will. The only reason I havent started a thread yet is I am doing bits and pieces when I can. So far I have my cnc board template, 10 cores, core profiling bed, camber profile mould. I still need to build my press, buy the rest of my materials and get it all happening before our souther...

I am not using tip spacers, my core is full length and I just trim it 10mm inside the the finished shape. It will require doing one side wall at a time and then nose and tail seperately, lucky that stuff goes off relatively fast.

Yeah I realise that.
I profiled cores 2 so I can test the trough method, if it works well I will continue to do it that way as I will save quite a bit of urethane.
If not I will try the mote method. I am prepared to scrap them both if it fails.

I am going to give this stuff a try also. I made 10 cores this weekend and profiled 2 of them so I am keen to see how the polyurethane goes with the profiled cores.

Looks good to me, 2 things I would do.
1. Weld a sleeve through the square tube where the bolts go.
2. Some kind of cross brace at each end to keep the thing square.

Regarding the shim. I cannot imagine a case where it is better to shim down the top mould than it is to shim up the bottom mould. Unless you do not fix your top mould to the press, let gravity work for you and shim up the bottom by simply lifting it up, placing the shim under it and letting the moul...

I would say it wouldn't make a difference but it sure can't hurt to get it level.
