I was just interested in mdf as it's so easy to get hold of, also on the battaleon website they describe their 'toughcore' as being made of a 'wood composite' I know that could mean anything but it got me thinking about what types of panel might be suitable to build cores. I want something cheap tha...

cheers for the reply, my thinking was that this could be used in the same way foam is as a core but it would have the damping characteristics of wood. I think I'm going to go for it and see what happens, it certainly makes producing a core a lot easier.

Ultralight MDF possible core material?

Been doing some digging around for a core material thats easy for me to deal with given my lack of tools, space and money and I found this stuff. The stats look pretty good - http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a619/richardvhiggs/UltraliteMDF_zpse8ae5f5e.jpg It doesn't state the density on there but...

Hi this has been bugging me so I thought I'd bring it up to see what opinions are out there. Firstly I snowboard, but I'm looking to design some ski's for the missus so forgive me if I'm way off the mark. I've been looking through the forum for some info about asymmetric sidecut skis, it makes sense...

Cheers tom, seeing your post reminded me to check where my stuff has got to! Somewhere between LA and here according to the US postal service. I want to build snowboards, trying to design a jib deck for the snowdome. I haven't built a press yet, I've designed a really simple bolt down press that I'l...

did you read what i posted before? cellophane is not going to stick to epoxy! at least not for long... After a bit more research I'm swaying towards agreeing with you about the cellophane...I'll still give it a go though just so I know for sure. Cellulose acetate is something I'm going to try as we...

I was interested in these materials because they are easy to print onto. I'm a graphic design student and I have a print room with lots of toys available. I was thinking of getting a bit creative with the graphics. Guess I'll just have to give it a go on some test panels. What's the normal procedure...

Is there any reason the top sheet has to be thick? I was going to make it as thin as possible as from what I understand all it does is keep moisture out of the laminate and give you somewhere to print some graphics on. I'll try some test panels. Can't really see why it wouldn't work.

Cellophane topsheet?

Doing a bit of research getting ready to press my first board. Has anyone tried using cellophane as top sheet material. It seems to tick all the right boxes and it doesn't cost anything and its made from wood so eco-friendly? Also what about aluminium foil? Maybe something a bit thicker than kitchen...

I emailed them loads but they never got back to me, no phone number either. I got my money back yesterday and ordered my stuff from snowboardmaterials which turned out cheaper even with shipping from the US. Now all I've got to do is persuade my university that building snowboards definitely is part...

What's happened to Boardbuildingsupply.eu?

Hi, I'm new to the forum, been hanging about on here absorbing all the useful info. Decided a couple of weeks ago to go for it and order some materials to build my first board. Got everything I could find here in the UK - fibreglass, resin, CF... I had to order the edge and base materials and insert...
