I'm on the same page as arild.(Using DraftSight aswell) The spline tool can be an obsession... :) and the mirror tool. I'm using circles instead of straight lines when setting up the tip, waist and tail width. Personally I get a more accurate feeling where to put them, with circles, just for positi...

And I wasn´t planning on making my first build a $400 venture into exotic fibres. Even I am not that silly. I was when I made my first pair of skis some 10 years ago or so :( Needless to say, I had no idea what I was doing with the rest of the process, and they were unskiable. But I learned a ton! ...

Idea for a layup, involving carbon and aramid
I know, I know, keep it simple, stupid! This might help others, though, so I´m willing to step into the flames.. I plan to build my very first (firehose) press this fall, and over the winter. I´ve been thinking about a layup that I think might work out well, but it involves aramid and carbon, and I ...

Don´t see it mentioned, so I thought I´d give a quick run down of how to save time and make everything symmetrical and nice. Use the mirror tool!! http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8124/8703204451_88480df255_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8417/8703204515_719c845391_b.jpg Hope that´s helpful to some...

Drawing tips with the spline tool has become somewhat of an obsession of mine, and for this, i like to use five points. The trick for me is to taper the tip so gently that you don´t see an abrupt transition from the tip sidecut to the tip itself. Very fun! I usually start with the tip and tail shape...

I´ve drawn up a 204cm ski that´s 130/116/122. Dang, that is a MASSIVE ski!!! After 15 days on that ski, which turned out to be 200cm, 134/120/124, 56m single radius sidecut, it turned out great. Moving into a house of some sort this summer, and will definitely start building my press this fall. Hav...

Sorry to dig up an old topic, but question were left unanswered, and now I'm curious too. Two years later does anyone care to share some more insight on what multiple radii do and why we care? Just a disclaimer: I have never built a pair of skis myself, and only in January started drawing them with...
