If I were to buy a press, is this the material I would need to make the skis?

I am a newb to all of this but am just getting into making skis and snowboards. What types of raw materials would I need with this to being making my own skis. I have always bought top of the line stuff but am now venturing into making equipment. I will treat ski making like the Japanese do swords.
