Heat Control Box

Got a new control box and have had one sitting around. Might want to change out the actual PID controllers and configure to your setup, but the components are there. Email me if interested and I can give you some more details and pictures.

I've been able to inspect it for holes and the sections I'm using aren't leaking up to 70psi so the stuff should be good to go.

yellow 8" firehose

I've probably got about 40ft of yellow firehose leftover. Here is the deal... I got the hose locally and was told that it didn't live up to the stations test because there were some leaks. I was able to cut out two 8ft sections easy for my bladder and have had no leaks with it at 70psi. It's pretty ...

it was the clear crown topsheet... I hate the way that stuff looks, the skis look better without it I think.

topsheet problem

So I just pulled a pair of skis out of the press and most of the topsheet had not bonded to the ski. I was able to then rip most of that unbonded sheet off and it seems like the fiberglass layers bonded and were cured. Did I just not have enough epoxy between the topmost glass layer and the topsheet...

I just purchased the beams described above. I'm thinking that an 8' span for the beams is the way to go to make enough space for the molds and have some space to work.. Could someone run that calculation one more time with a 8' span instead of a 7'... I'm trying to determine if I can get away with n...

Nice! so .021" of deflection sounds pretty acceptable to me. Do people think that a 13.5" span is enough to do two skis in? It seems like they might be a little close but maybe OK...
Thanks for everyones help

awesome, thanks a ton for looking that up...
Is this enough information for someone to run some clacs on the deflection??

I think I'm going to start out doing one ski at a time... hopefully I'll have some heat in the press so it won't be that big of a deal. Do you suggest doing two at a time to start? Also, I coundn't find my beam specs in that chart... they are W 7 X 38lb/ft with a 14in height.. Should I find whatever...

SO, I went down to the scrap yard and found some ibeams... They are 7" by 14" and 20' long at 38lbs/ft. They are only $190 bucks a piece so a pretty good deal from what I can tell... I'm not sure but to me they seem a little tall... I would like to do some calculations to see what the defl...

Ok, I apologize I was way out of line then! Welding vertical bars between the webs will do virtually nothing, if you weld some diagonal bars though that will help a lot. The bending loads are all in shear. ahh, that makes more sense... I've found some ibeams that are 35lbs/ft that are almost 50% off...

"I could have misinterpreted the question but I though the question was about welding metal on a single beam from bottom to top flange. Yes for sure having a hinged system it will minimize deflection. sorry for the misread" The original question was about welding metal on a single beam fro...

I'm thinking of getting some lighter ibeams and then adding those supports... hopefully that will save on money....

ski press

Hey, pretty new to this forum... Thinking of building a press similar to the monkeypress with two ibeams on top and bottom. Just curious if people think it would help with deflection if some metal was welded vertically in between the flanges of the ibeams... hopefully that makes sense. I have not do...
