I have some really old FIS skis that have laquer bases.
I used Crown materials for two years without them warping after profiling, then this past season every roll I got from them warped after cutting. I'm kind of dying to see this question answered by Crown.

Rout should be same depth as the edge teeth (phlanges). If you are attaching sidewalls before routing (8-10 mm is standard and allows for slight core shifts with 3-5 mm outside the edges, depending on whether you will bevel the sidewall), size the bit to do both the sidewall and into the core as far...

VDS rubberfoil is the key to bonding edges and, many times, tip insert material. Forget vibration. It's the necessary bonder for the resin to metal interface. Our delams have been occurring because of the heat generated on the edges when sanding our bases flat. Gotta have a light touch and some emul...

Is this formable grade abs you guys are getting for thermoforming? If it is, it has a polish on it that makes bonding very difficult. You'll have to sand it before the flambe'. Also drilling holes in it will increase bonding. There is some 2 side haircell and polyethylene coated abs that are more sp...

The small piece at the binding area on top of the carbon doesn't look like glass. As he applies it on the second ski you can see it doesn't bend through and he presses the piece on the ski with his thumbs. It wouldn't surprise me if it is titanal or something else which can hold the screws better. ...

First of all, I have found ABS much better to use as a sidewall material. It bonds better (has to be flamed) and sands better. You can also buy it in 2.35 mm sheets for tip spacers. As for the cnc sander - in one pass it profiles a core with sidewalls, whether durasurf, abs, or uhmw with a grit of 6...
