Unless shipping is particularly expensive, location shouldnt be an issue.

Custom ski builder needed

I am a designer and I am working on a product I am hoping to license for manufacture in the next 6 months or so. The main part of the product is made in the same way as a pair of skis. It is basically a ski but a different shape. I need to find someone who could produce a batch of several hundred of...

also, I have bought a load of rice paper for the application of a logo. Now I have decided to do the logo in gold I am unsure whether I will still be able to use the rice paper for this.

Is it possible to print in gold ink onto rice paper?

screen printing in gold

I am new to screen printing. I will have some help making my print but was wondering what fabric to use that will go transparent during lay up. Do most people use silk?

Also is it easy enough to make a gold print? is it just a case of buying gold ink?

Thanks
Jack

Dear Jack Spancer, Good to hear, that you could find the pacel finaly. There is one side prepared for bonding, the other side is the matt finish. You should see it, freundliche Grüße, best regards, Fabian Schäler This is what confused me because i assumed the matt side was for bonding. I cut two pi...

i didnt know the answer, that is why I asked. I have now checked by cutting 2 samples and attempting to bond the gloss side and the matt side to some wood with epoxy.

The gloss side does bond better than the matt side. I think you should probably go and do some reading yourself you onion

I am sure there is no protective film, the guy who sent it said that he was out of the plastic with a protective film so he sent me plastic without a film.

Thanks for the honest answer Montuckymadman. Im not an idiot like you would like to think. I assumed the matt side was for bonding but the suppliers instructions read that the gloss side should bond. Duh

which side of topsheet material bonds?

I received some topsheet materials from board building suppliers in europe. There is no protective film on it and I have never used it before so am unsure which side is which. One side is smooth and one side is matt. Which side has been treated for bonding and which side should I put a protective fi...

applying graphics

I want to apply some simple black graphics to my skis,

Is there something I can print on that only shows the ink after lay up? Acetate maybe?

Alternatively does anyone use vinyl?

Flowcoat instead of topsheet

Does anyone use a flowcoat of epoxy as a final layer instead of using a plastic topsheet?

I guess this way you dont get the UV protection that you get from the topsheet. Are there any disadvantages to doing this aside from it perhaps being a little bit more difficult to add graphics?

Thanks

ah ok, so is there a formula I can use to work out how each milimeter of thickness will affect the stiffness of the ski?

ok, do you think that I could achieve a better stiffness/weight ratio by using biaxial tape around the edges or just to make a thicker core without any edge reinforcement?

thanks for the info, I dont really want to use any fabrics that do not go transparent as I want to see the wooden core at the end. is it a good idea to sandwhich uni directional fibreglass between the edges of the core and the sidewalls and let this cure before lay up? I thought that this might make...
